Athena Pov

"Wells, Clarke, can we play?" I ask the chancellor's son and the head doctor's daughter.  They are two years older than me, but they have to play with me.

"Not right now Athena." Clarke says.

"We have homework to do." Wells says.

"My daddy said you had to." I cross my arms and smirk. Knowing I'm going to get my way.

Wells looks at me. "Well my dad said I have to do homework. And he's your daddy's boss."

Clarke laughs.

I grunt. Obviously annoyed. I scream. Guards come rushing in. Also my dad and chancellor Jaha.

"What's the matter princess?" My dad asks picking me up.

"They won't play with me." I pout.

"We have homework due to do." Clarke says pointing at the table.

My dad looks at the chancellor.

"Can't you take a ten minute break to play with Athena?" Jaha asks.

They groan but nod.

"Thank you." My dad says. He puts me down.

I run over to Clarke and Wells. "I wanna play farm. Wells you be the horse and Clarke be the pig."

"I'm not being the pig." Clarke says. I quiver. "Fine I'll be the pig. Just don't cry again."

I always get my way. That's how it always was. I would spread  a few tears and threaten to tell my dad and bam I got what I want. I was my dads princess. I always liked that the no more than one child rule. I always got my way but I was also very curious and adventurous. And that sometimes got me into trouble.

A year before we go to the ground.

As I said before I'm very adventurous and sometimes I get in trouble for being curious.  Actually I did. I got in a lot of trouble. And on the ark any act of treason is to be punishable by death or being floated. Except for children. We get put in prison until we are 18 and than get reviewed.

But what I did I would have been floated at 18 for sure. My dad did his best to not get me locked up. But it didn't work no matter what councilman Kane would say or do. Even the chancellor couldn't help me.

The day of the drop-ship launch

I wake up to guards coming into my cell.

"What's happening?!" I scream. "I'm only 15 I have 3 more years." I cry."let me go!" I struggle in the guards arms. They squeeze my arms tighter. They pull me out. I see all the other kids being pulled out too. Than I see it. "Clarke?" I see her than I see  Dr.Griffin. They are on the other side of the room.

I turn around and see my dad.

"Daddy?" I ask. The guards stand me up. "Daddy what's going on?" I ask. The guards push me into my father's arms. "Daddy are they killing all of us. Is what Clarke said true? Are we losing air so they're gonna kill us." I feel hot wet tears on my face.

"No. No. No. Athena, listen to me." He holds my face so I'm staring at him. "You're going to the ground."

"The ground?" I ask. "But it isn't safe."

"But it is. At least we hope." He sighs. "Stay with Clarke ok? Stay with Clarke. She'll protect you. Ok. She'll protect you."

I nod at him. "Yes sir I'll stay with Clarke." I cry.

"I love you. Athena." He hugs me even tighter.

"I, lov..." Than everything goes black.
