The Day of the Baby Shower

"Mia lets go." I yelled loudly. Mia and I were out all day shopping for the baby. I had plans to go over and help Nina set up the shower early but things came up.

I haven't been completely honest with Nina neither. And somewhat to Mia as well. I just hope no shit won't pop off today. I paced the floor, walking back and forth thinking about a last minute plot to get Mia to stay. My phone began vibrating, it was Nina texting me. Damn.

Hi baby 😊 don't forget to bring me my wings from American Deli, I've been craving them all day 😩 I can't wait to see you tho 😍😌😘

I stopped and began rubbing my phone on the side of my temple. "Baby?"

"Baby are you ready?" Mia said as she grabbed my arm. Which caused me to jump back in shock.

"Oh fuck, you scared me. But yeah."I responded.

"Did you brush your teeth this time? And wash yo ass?" She replied.

I rolled my eyes which was proceeded by a smack to the head.

"Yes mam, now we can go. But I gotta make a stop and get some wings for Nina." I turned and looked at Mia, who appeared bothered by what I said. Her facial expression completely changed.

"Oh okay, well I'll be in the car waiting." She snatched the keys from my hand and brushed passed me into the garage. "So you not gone help with the baby stuff?" I asked.

"You got it. Now hurry yo ass up." She responded.

I walked into the dining room and grabbed the baby's stuff. I didn't understand why she was upset, I don't even know what I said wrong.

I had to get away from August before I exploded. I know that Nina is pregnant and all but she can't get her own damn wings? And his ass ain't never bring me food, even if I've asked.

I reclined the front seat and rested my arm above my forehead. I was mentally as well as physically preparing myself for this baby shower. I just got a feeling that something is gonna go down. I just wanna go and have no drama. And maybe even speak to Nina one on one. I don't want her to think that I feel some way towards her an I just wanna be cordial.

I've been in the car for a min now I've grown impatient of waiting on August. I raised up and blew the horn which startled him as he was walking out. I don't know why I was so anxious to arrive to the shower so soon. I guess I just wanted to get it over with.

25 minutes later

We finally made it to Nina's neighborhood. After turning down five different roads we eventually made it to Nina's house. She lived in a townhouse and so the driveway wasn't but so big which ended in us parking across the street at her neighbors house. August rushed out of the car before I could talk to him before walking up. I placed my purse inside of the glove department because, well you know I wasn't familiar with this neighborhood and so I wasn't taking no chances. I got out off the car and went to the trunk to help August with the gifts. "Here baby you can carry this, and I will come back for the rest." I grabbed the two bags from his hands.

"So are you excited?" I asked him. He paused before looking in my direction. He had a weird look on his face. But it wasn't a unordinary look for August, it was his "I fucked up" look. "August what the fuck now." I said. I stopped and dropped the bags and waited for him to answer. People were by passing us going into the party starring but I didn't care.
