Chapter 20

Mia
I couldn't stand to be at this shower any longer and I just had to leave. I stood up and excused myself away from everyone. I bent over and kissed Ms. Sheila on the cheek and told her goodbye. "Baby where you going?" asked August as he grabbed my arm. I see I finally caught his attention. Nina nearly fell out of the chair when he jumped up. I was happy of course but I was still leaving.

"Oh so you care now? You've embarrassed me enough August and I'm done. I'm done looking stupid for you. That bitch can keep yo ass."

I jerked my arm away from him and continued walking to the front. I grabbed my phone, unlocked it and sent for an uber. I walked by everyone standing around me and starring. Instead of going back into the house I went through the gate and went through the front instead. As I went up to the gate, there stood Scott. He said something but I kept a deaf ear and continued walking and ignored him. The last thing I needed was to speak to him. He and August both were a thing of the past at this point.

August

I picked up a bottle of wine that was on the table and through it down causing it to burst. "August, what the fuck is your problem." asked Nina. She came up to me and I pushed her away as I tried to run after Mia. I really fucked up this time. Before I could make it to the gate, I was surrounded by a bunch of Nina's relatives including her father and mother. I looked around me, in search for my mother and noticed she was gone.

I had my back against the wall, literally, and was surrounded and out numbered. "You just had to bring her ass and ruin our day? I hate you, I hate you, I hate you.." Nina hollered as she beat her fist on my chest. I hugged her and wiped her tears. Even though i was angry at her, I didn't want her to stress out the baby. But it was time I let her know, and put her in her place. "Look Nina, I understand that this was your day, not ours but yours. But as soon as you saw Mia, you should've respected her and our relationship. You was wrong Nina and you know that." She pulled away from me and started crying as she ran to her daddy's arms. Ms. Shirley stood in front of me and began shoving her finger in my chest. " Don't just blame her August, you are at fault here as well. Leading her own to something when you knew you were never gonna settle with her."

She was right. Absolutely right. I was at fault here. And now it was probably too late, Mia was gone and I'm sure for good this time. I put her though so much shit and she stood by me. I removed my keys from my pocket and went to go to my car and leave. Nina yelled out my name as I was leaving but i ignored her and kept walking. On the way out, I noticed Dria and Mia's ex Scott. We each stopped and paused at each other.

"I told Mia you wasn't right for her anyways." Scott said in an emphatic matter.

"Wasn't you taking dick up the ass while you was with her?" I said. He swung at me but Dria held him back causing his fist to connect with her face. I got in my car and called up my homie, Tone. I needed to vent to someone an to just clear my head. Before driving off, I sent a text to Mia seeing if she was okay. I didn't bother calling because I knew she wouldn't answer. I just hope that she didn't block my number or anything.

Mia
I grabbed my cup of tea and took another sip. Ms. Sheila passed me another tissue to wipe up my tears. She caught me before I got into my uber and offered me a ride instead. We ended up at some coffee shop, we've been here for about an hour now talking.

"So what are your plans now? I can help you get your belongings from August place if you want?"she said.

"No, um that's ok. I can get my stuff myself. I didn't have a lot over there anyways. Thank you for, hearing me out." I said. She grabbed my hand and began rubbing it before continuing. "No problem, Mia. I am sorry that things didn't work out. I truly am, I was looking forward to you being my daughter in law. But I know that son of mines ain't shit." We both erupted in laughter. She was right.

The waitress came and brought out the book for us to pay. She left the bill and I tipped an we left. She drove me to Ti's house. I was originally living there.

"Thank you Ms. Sheila." I leaned in and kissed her cheek and hugged her. She kissed my cheek back. "You're Welcome baby, keep in touch."

I grabbed my phone and got out the car. As I walked up the steps, I could see Ti at the door with her arms open. I couldn't help but to burst into tears again. "Come here, let it out boo." She hugged me, and the waterworks came. We came in an sat on the couch. She through her quilt that she was wrapped in around my shoulders. We sat for a while before she finally broke the silence.

"So are you really done? I won't judge you if you go back Mia, but your emotions are every where right now." I looked her in her eyes before dropping my head. Right now, I didn't wanna think about August at all. I just wanted to cry.

Should I really give him another chance after he once again made a fool out of me?

"I'm gonna go lay down." I said. I went upstairs into my old room. I opened the door to find everything still in place exactly where I left it all. Minus Ti's son diapers on the floor. But it felt good to be back in a sense. I decided to play some music, so I could clear my head. Music was always my get away during a problem. I plugged my phone into my speaker and shuffled my music.

I climbed into bed and got under my covers.

Nina
I went upstairs into my room to get away from everyone. My baby shower didn't go planned the way I wanted it at all. August ruined it by bringing that bitch here. It was just suppose to be us. This was our day. I went into my bathroom and undressed out of my baby shower dress and slid on my robe. Even though Mia and August came here together, they left separately. I'm guessing that they're really done this time. I knew one thing, I wasn't gonna give up on August and I. We have history together unlike him and Mia.

Their whole relationship started off behind lust. No real love. I don't see what he saw in her anyways.

I turned off the bathroom light and went and got into bed. I heard a knock at the door. It was my mom.

"Hey baby, we put all the gifts away and the food." I rolled my eyes and continued to flip through the TV channels.

"Look, I know you're upset but you need to worry about getting August back into your good graces. You know he needs to help with this baby since khalif is still in jail." She said as she stood in front of the TV.

I hated when she mentioned Khalif, he was gone in jail, where he needed to be. "Can you fucking not mention him? Dammit."

"Look Nina, you know he's the father of the baby. But since his ass is locked up, August is just gonna have to do for now. And we're gonna milk him for all he has." She threw my phone at my face which startled me.

"Now call his ass and tell him to come back over here. "
