My father? Hah, sure. I stare at the brown wolf before me. He's sitting upright, tail wrapped around his body, head held low in shame.
If this is my father he should feel shame. The wolf walks behind a tree that's wide enough so I can no longer see him.
Within seconds my- father- walks out from behind it. My eyes wander over him, proving he is most defiantly my father. The man that left. The once sweet family man everyone loved and got along with but was now the mystery of my life.
"You've grown up.. so fast." My father spoke, his usual friendly voice not as noticeable as it always had been before he left.
I shook my head and chuckled.
"Yea, I have grown up. Too bad you weren't there to see it but that was your delusional choice." I fire back at my father.
Maybe he was a good man before, but since he left, I don't know who he really is and I'm not too sure if I even want to.
Well, I know he's a werewolf at least. My dad takes a step closer to me, making me feel all the more awkward in this situation, especially with the other wolf that's with him.
"Sweetheart, I know, I'm sorry. I had no choice. Please forgive me. I swear, I'll never leave you again."
You can hear the truth in my dads words but I don't want to believe him. I don't want to forgive him. I don't want to give in to him.
"You didn't even give me a warning. No, I love you or, I'll miss you. What about mom huh?! She went fucking delusional! And now, you go and propose to her, come and-"
My dad cuts me off mid sentence.
"What do you mean I came back and proposed to her? I never once saw your mother since I've been back."
Clearly, my father is a big fat liar. I saw that ring on my moms finger. She told me he was back.
I scoff at my father. "Don't lie to me you pig! You know you saw her again! You thought you could make everything go back to normal. You thought we'd be a happy family all over again. Well no, that's not happening. I'm never going back to that house! Never going to have a family time again with the either of you! And did you ever once think to tell me were werewolves?? Huh? Or was it just going to remain a secret until I found out myself?" I rant to my father furiously.
He stares at me and then, just a small teardrop falls from his eye. My father, crying? What a faker.
I sigh, annoyed with the current moment. "This is pathetic. How about you go away now??"
My dad looks up at me, a trace of worry in his eye. "No dear. Please. I want to fix this. Please! I'll explain everything."
The thought of excepting his offer comes to mind but he would have to give me all my answers in detail.
"Fine. But I'm not moving and you better get explaining. First, who's that?" I point over to the grey wolf sitting beside my father. It's green eyes pinned on the ground.
My father begins to explain. "This, is a rouge I found her on the outskirts of my pack. A rouge is considered dangerous, they go into packs and normally kill or take the pups, but I'm trying to find a new need for rouges. To not kill them but, give them a second chance."
Nodding my head I ask another question. "Is mom a werewolf?"
"No. She is not."
"Does she know we are werewolves?"
"She knows I am, but not you."
My mother doesn't know I am? Will she ever know?
I speak once again. "Why didn't you tell me?"
"You see dear, I'm an alpha of my pack. My pack is the To Be Free pack. The meaning of our name is in our pack your welcome to be free, do as you please. I had to leave because there was an encounter.. with an unwelcome pack. Nobody knows what pack it was but they took many pups and killed over half my soldiers. I couldn't risk my entire pack."
"But you couldn't tell us? Why no goodbye!?" I begin to sob uncontrollably, the weight of everything piling up on my shoulders is much to heavy.
"I know and I'm sorry! I'll never leave you again! You can join my pack! Everyone would love you.."
Join his pack? Sure thing dad! Not.
"I don't want to join your pack! I just want to be a normal human."
My sobs come out annoying and loud.
Sighing, my father picks me up off the ground and carries me towards who knows where. I don't fight back though. In all honesty I just want food and a place to rest. My body must be so weak right now I can practically feel it giving up slowly within me.
I turn my head to the side to watch the grey wolf following. Her ears are pinned down. My dad said rouges are supposed to be dangerous creature but this girl just looks sweet and innocent. I wouldn't ever mark her down as something dangerous.
"You look scared." I say to the grey colord wolf.
She nods her head in reply. My father just continues to walk forward without saying a word.
"Why do people say your dangerous? You don't look like you'd hurt anything."
The wolfs ears are now pointed up. "I'm not dangerous, and no I wouldn't hurt anything but there are others out there that would. Just because one rouge is good doesn't mean others are."
I nod, taking in her words.
"Well, I'm going to take a nap till we get to where we are going." I smile at the she wolf.
She nods back up at me and I rest my head against my fathers chest, falling into deep oblivion.
