*5 months later*

"Before you leave on your trip today, I want you to do another test on the lie detector," Fury informed Skye as she was packing in her room.

"Please, come in," Skye said sarcastically. "Do you want to do it now?"

Fury nodded. "I do." He led her out of her room and down the hallway that Skye was becoming increasingly familiar with. He opened the door to the room and led her inside, closing the door behind them.

A familiar figure was standing in the corner of the room. Skye grinned and ran to him, hugging him. "You're here!"

Ward chuckled as he pried Skye off him. "Yes, I'm here. Have to lead survival training, remember? Besides, I wanted to see how my Rookie was doing."

"Amazingly, I'll have you know," she smiled. She then moved to sit down in the chair and hooked herself up to it.

"Name?" Fury asked.

"Skye."

"Age?"

"It's rude to ask a woman her age, but I'm 28."

"Nationality?"

"Chinese."

"State of birth?"

"Hawaii," Skye grinned. There was a small spike in the readings.

"You're stranded on an island and a box washes up on shore. What's in the box?"

"Waffles," Skye nodded, "definitely waffles."

Fury gave her a puzzled look as he looked at the readings. "Really?"

She nodded again. "I'm really hungry right now."

Fury rolled his eyes and continued with the test. "Difference between an egg and a rock?"

"No difference whatsoever."

"What is the relationship you have with your team?"

"Agent Ward and I are married and we have seven kids," Skye answered with a straight face.

Ward smirked from behind Fury, trying to keep his amusement hidden.

"Lastly, have you given up trying to hack us? Are you willing to do what it takes to protect the citizens of Earth for the greater good?"

"I just want you to know that I will always try to hack you, that'll never change. But yes, I'm prepared to do whatever it takes. I've already taken two in the gut," she shrugged.

Fury nodded as he set the tablet down. "Alright, you're done. Thank you."

Fury left the room and Ward walked over to Skye to help her unhook herself from the machine. "Married with seven kids, huh?"

Skye grinned. "I like to ruffle Fury's feathers."

Ward offered her a hand and she jumped down. "Why doesn't that surprise me at all?"

She stuck her tongue out at him playfully and she opened the door, slipping on a professional face, as she wasn't supposed to have met Ward before this moment.

Ward did the same as they walked down the hallway. "I have to go get ready and meet up with Nat and Clint. I'll see you later today."

Skye nodded and gave him a two-fingered salute. She ran into her room to grab her bag with everything she was instructed to pack and joined the rest of her class in the gym.

"Do my ears deceive me, or did I just hear that you and Agent Ward were walking in the halls together?" Sarah smirked as Skye sat down beside her.
