One Month later

Kirstie's POV

Beep! Beep! Beep!

"Avi, turn it off."

Beep! Beep! Beep!

"Avi!" I grumbled, getting louder. I turned towards his side of the bed before noticing that my boyfriend was not under the covers. Groggily, I reached out and hit the button on our new alarm clock. I fell back against the pillow and tried to wake up a little more. Why is my alarm on?

Suddenly I sat up, realizing what day it was. Besides it being the day we returned from our one month hiatus as a result of Scott and Mitch's messy breakup, it was also Kevin's birthday, and I forgot that I had agreed to help Mitch and Avi out with the set up of his surprise party.

I typed out a quick text to Kevin, wishing him a happy happy birthday, then jumped out of bed. Heading towards the bathroom to shower, I heard the water running. So that's where Avi is, I thought mischievously. Might as well give him a fun surprise. Hurrying downstairs, I filled a pitcher to the brim with ice and snuck into our bathroom, tiptoeing all the way to the shower door. I quickly jumped up, tipping the pitcher as I did so. I ran away as I heard Avi yell out in surprise, then open the shower door.

"Oh you are so going to get it Maldonado!" I could hear him laughing as I ran into Mitch's room unannounced. "As soon as I get a towel on that is!" I laughed too, turning towards Mitch's bed.

I stopped mid-laugh. Instead of Mitch being in the luxurious guest bed, it was empty, the covers spread nicely and pillows arranged neatly. There was a small letter, with Kirstie and Avi written on top in Mitch's distinct writing. I began walking towards the bed to pick it up when my feet were suddenly off the floor. Avi had picked me up without warning and was carrying me back to our room. "Didn't I say you were going to get it?" He laughed, and in that moment, I forgot about the note laying on the abandoned bed just down the hallway.

After we had, ahem, consecrated our bed once again, we were laying down and talking softly when Avi looked at me, his eyes turned completely serious.

"Kirstie."

I looked up at him, startled by the tone he had used. It was unlike anything I had heard from him before.

"I love you." The three words escaped softly from his mouth, and before I knew it, I was in my car driving to Scott's house, holding Mitch's still unopened letter.

I know this chapter is shorter than the rest but I think I like this ending.
