(Just a note, I was listening to “Almost is Never Enough” by Ariana Grande and omg I made myself cry writing this. So if you wanna you can play the song while reading this ok ;D)

Matt POV:

I searched for her, looking left and right. She wasn’t at the tree. She wasn’t at the park. I drove and searched. I had no time to lose, because every second could be one too late.

I merged onto a bridge full of traffic. Just my luck.

At this point I was worried, scared and just gave up hope. By the time I would find her she would be gone.

I am too late. I honked and yelled. Cars all around me did the same.

I became so angry with myself, I gripped the steering wheel so tight my hands were red.

No matter how much I wanted to I couldn’t keep her safe. All I did was hurt her.

I saw police cars and ambulances and their flashing light. I needed to get to the other side of this bridge, I can’t just give up. It’s not over yet.

By this time I knew this traffic wasn’t going to move. I got out of my car into the rain, and headed for the other side of the bridge. I was approaching the cluster of cop cars.

A hand shoved me back. “Excuse me sir but you cannot pass.” A tall bald officer stood in front of me. “But you don’t understand.” I explained. I saw a young girl 10 feet away, arms stretched out. She slowly leaned forward. I recognized her and pushed the cop out of my way.

Delaney’s POV:

*15 minutes before*

I walked up the bridge. The traffic swirled all around me. At least 25 feet down was a large ocean. I stepped onto the edge of the bridge with my bare feet. For once I didn’t fear. I admired the dark blue sky and all the lights of the city. A tear fell from eye and rolled down my chin.

I had forgotten all my fears, my worries, my hurt, my sadness etc.

It was just me and the sky.

That is, until the cops came.

Many tried talking to me but I completely ignored them. I only focused on my thoughts. I had cleared my mind and my only thoughts were peace, silence, tranquility. I stretched out my arms, soaking in every drop of rain. My toes slowly letting go. I was soon going to be free from the pain of this world. Then I closed my eyes and fell facing the sky.

“DELANEY!”

Matt.

The last thing I heard was his voice. My name coming out of his mouth. It was like a painful cry. His scream made my heart ache, just imagining what he felt.

But it’s too late, only a second later I was over taken by the waves.

Matt’s POV:

I placed my hands behind my head. Not being able to comprehend what had just happened.

She was just here and now, just like that she’s gone. I could’ve saved her. I almost was able to give her a chance to live. But it still wasn’t enough.

The last thing I ever did for her was fail.
