[soojin's pov:]
"yoongi?... what did seoyul mean when she said you were getting beaten down by your father?"
he gaze suddenly stuck onto me as he sat there completely silent. "it's nothing. she just likes to say things just to throw them out there," he shrugged it off. "no, i don't believe that. i think it's more than that."
i paused for a moment. "yoongi, did your dad do that to you?"
again, he sat there silently. but it was enough for me to understand that he was being abused. "you need to put some ice on it, to prevent swelling. do you have some ice? should i buy some ice? you know what, i'll go buy some anyways."
i quickly got up and went back in to buy some ice. when achieving the ice, i quickly went back out and had the ice wrapped in some tissue. "here, put it on your cheek."
"you didn't have to," he chuckled lightly. "yeah, actually i did," i smiled. he took the wrapped ice from my hands, our fingers brushing against each other slightly. a tint of pink began showing on my cheeks.
"thanks," he softly said as he placed the ice onto his cheek. a small sigh escaped his lips but then his eyes met mine. "so... what do you need toilet paper rolls for?" he asked softly.
"oh my! i totally forgot. my mom needed me to buy some toilet paper because we were running out at home," i gasped slightly.
"you have to go?" he asked as he looked at me holding the pack of ice on his cheek.
"yeah..."
"oh, i see. well, you should go then."
"what about you?" i asked.
"what do you mean what about me?"
"i mean, will you be okay here?" i laughed softly.
"oh... yeah. i think i'll be fine." he softly said. i nodded as i stood up on my feet and slowly grabbed the pack of toilet paper into my arms.
"if you need a place to stay, we have an extra mattress at our house," i softly said. "oh, no... it's okay, you did enough."
"it's the least i can do," i said smiling at him. i stood there looking at him and waited. "i guess... but are your parents home?" he asked as he stood up to his feet and threw his bowl of ramen away in the trash and picked up his backpack.
"it's just my mom and i."
"oh, i'm sorry," he softly said holding the pack of ice firmly on his cheek. "it's no worries."
on the way to my house, we walked quietly beside each other. how awkward. should i say something first?
"so... was that just today?" i asked softly, wondering if it was good question to ask.
"yeah... it was," he softly said. i made an 'o' shape with my mouth as i held the toilet paper pack in my arms.
"you got it?" he asked.
"oh, yeah," i chuckled nervously. i grasped the item firmly as we walked some further steps. soon, we came upon my house. walking towards the door, i unlocked it and had yoongi follow in behind me.
"eomma??? i'm back with the toilet paper rolls!" i yelled out through the house, while taking off my converse. i placed the toilet paper rolls onto of the kitchen counter as i looked around the place.
just then, my mother appeared out of her room when she suddenly gasped. "oh! uh, we have a guest?"
i smiled nervously and watched her reaction, "uh, mom? this is min yoongi. he goes to the same school as me. and... he needs a place to stay," i explained.
yoongi stood next to me and bowed politely as he kept the pack of ice onto his cheek, "hi, ms. jung. um, i'm sorry to disturb you at this time," he softly said.
"oh, no, it's terribly fine," she said as he bowed slightly but gasped abruptedly, "oh my dear, what happened to your cheek?"
"uh," i said awkwardly as i looked at yoongi wondering if he was going to speak up about first.
"uh... some complications went down at home," he quietly said. i looked straight at my mother giving her the signal to not talk about it.
"so uh, mom," i coughed, "can he have a place to stay for tonight?" i asked.
"well, i guess if it's important...sure. in the meantime, i'll get you something for that bruise. soojin will show you the extra room," my mother told him. in response, yoongi bowed politely, "thank you."
my mother quickly left the room back to her to probably grab some ointment for his face. i turned to face yoongi as i saw him already staring at me. i smiled, "come on. i'll show you where you'll sleep."
i walked down the hall as i heard yoongi's footsteps following me. i, then, stopped in front of the door to the extra room and opened it up for him. inside the room laid a durable mattress sitting at the corner of the room with a lamp desk next to it.
"so this is the extra mattress we have," i said smiling at him.
yoongi looked in wonder as he slowly placed his arm down with the ice pack in his hand. "you didn't have to do this," he softly said when his eyes turned back to stare at mine's.
for some odd reason, my heart started to pick up its pace. i licked my lips slightly, "it's fine really. just to repay back the things you did to help me."
he entered the room and laid his backpack on the floor as he sat on top of the surface on the bed. little did he know, my eyes secretly watched him. it's weird how i met him in the piano room, and i guess i could say we're close(?). now, he's sleeping for the night in my own house.
"oh, yeah. um, i might have extra clothes that my dad might have left behind...," I softly said, "wait here." i quickly left him in peace as i went to our storage closet that had a lot of possessions behind in it, including some of my father's clothes. he might have left us physically, but my father did leave some of his belongings.
once i retrieved a pair of my dad's old t-shirts and whatnot, i quickly went back to the extra room, knocking on the door lightly. "um, these are my dad's old t-shirts and pants. i'm not sure they'll fit, but i figured it'll be more comfortable to sleep in rather than your uniform," i said to him.
"oh, thanks," he softly said as he took them into his hands. i stared at the bruise on his cheek when suddenly my mother knocked on the door. "soojin-ah? i have some ointment for your friend." she peeked in as i took the ointment from her and handed it to yoongi.
"thank you, ms. jung," yoongi said as he gave a bow.
my mother gave an awkward cough as she looked at me and gave a small smile. blushing slightly, i motioned her away, hoping she wouldn't embarrass me. "well, i'll be downstairs if you both need anything. good night," my mother had told us.
"night eomma," i softly said. she left after that leaving me and yoongi alone once more. "uh, well, i'll let you be now. goodnight."
"soojin?"
just with the sound of voice made me stop in my tracks. gulping slightly, i looked over past my shoulder as i found myself staring back at him once more.
"thank you," he said, smiling. okay, yeah. part of me just died.
in return, all i did was smile. and with that, i left to go get ready for bed.
