It had been two weeks' since me and Luca had completed our mating bond and let me tell you I felt great as ever but I could tell something was different, I just didn't know what it was, it felt like Luca was pulling away from me.
Right now, I was in the dining hall eating breakfast, I know Luca told me it's the great Hall but dining hall just seems to fit it better, so I renamed it, for me anyway. Luca wasn't in here, he was out taking care of business... he was really out hunting.
He just didn't tell me he was going hunting, even though I knew he was. It was just hard for me to accept that he had to go without me to hunt, I mean it's not like I could come with him anyway unless I rode atop his back. But Luca had already told me that was not safe. I sighed in defeat and slouched in my chair.
Nothing had happened that Luca thought was going to happen. My body had accepted the bond but for some reason I couldn't shift and I was never really hungry. Luca was happy about that, the shifting part, not the food part. He hoped that because I couldn't shift that it would mean that what happened to his Mother wouldn't happen to me.
I didn't tell him that I did have a lioness, I had been talking to her. But I didn't think Luca would be happy so I just kept it to myself.
The only ones that were here around the table were females and I had yet to make friends with any of them after the incident of me claiming Luca. Well I did have Jewale and Jade but Jewale was out with the men and Jade was working. I think most of them were just afraid of me, not upset that I had claimed what was mine. No one even knew the girl that I had killed.
Come on it was not like I was intimidating or anything, just scary. I know that I did kill that woman but Luca told me that she had no family or friends here and he also said that I did the right thing, he just didn't think that I was capable of killing and he didn't want me getting any closer to The Dark than I already was.
I had yet to touch anything on my plate, none of it smelled very appetizing, it just kind of made me sick. I had already talked to Jade and she said that it was the flu bug. But she did tell me that she was trying to help me, but she wouldn't tell me how.
"My lady, is there something the matter with your food?" One of the kitchen cooks came out and addressed me, he was standing on my right and there was a new cooking staff with him. She didn't look happy to be here. I knew that she was new as I knew everyone that was in my Pride, Luca had made sure that I knew. It was hard at first but with Luca's help it turned out okay.
I looked up at him quickly. I didn't even hear him coming, "Oh no, nothing is wrong with it. I'm just not very hungry, Jade said that I have the flu." I put on my best smile as I looked up at him. I don't think I did, I wasn't throwing up.
"Perhaps I can interest you in something else then? Maybe a smoothie perhaps, with some fresh berries?" He looked at me with so much hope in his eyes, I didn't want to tell him no and it did kind of sound good.
"If it's not too much trouble." Before I could finish speaking he had scooped up my uneaten plate and hurried off into the kitchen, with the new girl following him trying to keep up. Man people were fast here!
I folded my arms on top of the table and laid my head down on top of them, I just wanted to go crawl back in bed, but Luca had made me get up. He said that I couldn't stay in bed all day, it wasn't good for me! He told me that I needed to be seen with the Pride, ugh! Sometimes I just wanted to slap him. I did want to spend time with the Pride but I just didn't feel very good.
I jumped at the sound of Cleo's voice sounding in my head. She was going to make me crazy if she kept doing that and I was too young to go crazy.
