You fly in silence for a while, as you resist the urge to annoy Rick and ask where you're going.
You are amazed, face plastered to the window as you awe over the view, flying over Seattle. The Space Needle flies by as your gaze follows it out of view. Finally, you can't hold back your excitement and you ask.
"Where are we going?" You quarry quickly, almost inaudible.
"W-whaauuuuggghhht?" Rick belches.
"Where are we going?" You ask more loudly and slower.
"I need to d-drop some stuff off at Planet Squanch."
"Planet Squanch? What's Planet Squanch?"
"Can't you tell by the name, it's a planet, dumbass," Rick insults.
You pout in your seat as you look out the window. Slowly, Seattle gets smaller and smaller, until you can see the whole state, then the whole country, and then all the continents on the hemisphere you're near.
"Whoa!" you whisper as the sight of the space and stars come into perspective. You sit up and look out the windshield.
The wide panorama spreads out before you of the planets. Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, and then Pluto in less than seconds speed by. You look in shock at Morty, then Rick.
"We just passed all of the planets in our solar system, besides Mercury and Venus. In less than a minute! You created space travel! NASA hasn't even sent an astronaut to Mars yet, b-but. . . But you did!!
Morty shrugs and smiles. "Rick's p-pretty much a-a genius."
"Yeauuuuuugggghhh! And I don't plan on sharing my a-achievements w-with NASA."
"Oh," you say disappointed. "But, but they could make SO many advances in space travel if you would!"
Rick chuckles. "Do you not understand? First, do you really think they'd credit me? Second, I like my privacy. It's nice not being around people. No way I'm gonna tell them about space travel. There would be people all over universe. Lastly, they would do something stupid or get us in the trouble with the rest of the universe. I'm helping Earth by doing this," Rick argues, making your point sound ridiculous.
You sit, embarrassed by the window. Morty taps on your shoulder. You turn away from your sulking and glance at Morty. He offers an ungainly smirk, empathetically. You give a half-hearted smile. You turn back around and decide to brush it off.
"Soooooo? How long til' we get there?" You ask.
"Hoauuuuugggghhhh-how long d-do you think?" Rick burps.
You breathe in, preparing to answer his sarcastic question, but Rick doesn't even allow you to say anything before he interrupts your reply.
"Not long, obviously."
"How far?"
"6,000 light years."
"Whoa!"
Rick breathes in deeply, distinctly bothered. You sigh and decide to talk to Morty, not wanting another sarcastic response.
"So, you said Rick's a. . . 'Genius.'"
"Y-yeah. Pretty much," Morty replies.
"Does he do anything else, I mean, besides space travel?"
"Yeah. He in-invented a portal gun?"
"Sounds cool. What does it do?"
"It aauuugghh-allows you to travel from dimension to d-dimension. You can also visit different times. 'Time jumping' if you will," Rick butts in, showing off his achievements.
Just as you're about to explode with excitement, you choose to take it nonchalantly as you say, "Cool, I guess."
"You guess?" Rick snickers at your poor choice of words.
You cross your arms in annoyance. You can see a vivid purplish red, fuchsia, if you will, planet zoom into your perspective.
"Is that Planet Squanch?" You ask, curiously.
Rick sighs and you look at him. He nods. You can feel excitement spread through your body, and at the same time, fear. The blood running through your veins feels like ice: cold and heavy. You feel as though gravity is ten times heavier than it should be and the atmosphere feels thick, like water.
You glance at Morty to see if he's having the same reaction, which he isn't. Morty seems calm.
It must be okay, you think, as Morty doesn't seem to be making it a big deal. It's probably safe. Nothing bad will happen, will it?
Rick lowers the space cruiser into the planet's atmosphere. You look at the cruiser in awe that it could break into the atmosphere without having to orbit the planet and slowly slice into it.
You can feel gravity tug on the machine. Afraid that the it might break, you grasp onto your seatbelt, bracing for impact. The night color of the planet filtering through the glass and across your faces. As you get closer to the ground, you slowly loosen your grip on the seat belt. The machine comes to a slow stop, hovering barely off the ground. Rick cuts the engine, pulling out the key, causing the cruiser to fall the small drop the ground, probably only half a foot. Even that, scares the shit out of you and you jump straight out of your seat.
You hear Rick snort and Morty stifle a laugh. You find it hard not to be upset with Morty, him well knowing that it's your first time going into outer space.
Rick steps out of the space cruiser. You open your door and do the same, as Morty follows. You look around. The ground is strawberry color. The sky is a baby blue color with lime green clouds, which to be scattered, isolated. There are furry trees of different colors all over the place and scarlet houses cover the land.
Suddenly, the door opens to the nearest house and an orange cat looking thing walks out. Once he sees Rick and Morty, he jogs up to Rick, saying, "Rick! So nice to squanch you!"
You look at the cat, confused.
The cat notices you and remarks, "Who's this?"
