We walked through the mall to the Men's Warehouse. I flipped open my wallet one more time to make sure that dad's credit card was in there. The store and the mall were packed. I hated when the mall was this crowded, but we had to be here with all the other seniors to pick up our tuxedos for the Senior Ball.
"Have you told your dad yet?"
"No. I'm just afraid. I don't want to be more of a disappointment than I already am."
"I doubt you're a disappointment Jon."
Luke and I stepped into the changing rooms and tried on our suits. I stepped out in front of the mirror and Luke followed not far behind.
"Purple huh?" I laughed
"Yeah I guess. I dunno. It's whatever." He snapped
"The suit would've looked better in gray instead of black." I teased as I adjusted my tie. "Nicole has big plans for you guys. I've been hearing about it for weeks."
"I don't really care anymore." He grumbled
"Hey, what's wrong?"
"It's nothing. Does this stupid thing fit or not? I want it off."
"Yeah. It looks great man. Are you sure you're alright?"
"I'm fine Jon. Just shut the fuck up and let's get out of here please."
I stood there confused as he turned and angrily loosened his tie and went back into the changing room. We changed and paid for our rentals. We weaved through the mall and stopped at the food court. If I know Luke then I know he will want to eat. I offered lunch, but he wasn't in the mood. He was never in the mood for anything anymore. It was like Nicole was sucking the life right out of him.
"Luke, honestly why are you with Nicole?"
"Because." He snapped
"Because why?"
"Because it's none of your fucking business alright?" He yelled
That was one thing about Luke; he never yelled. He was normally very happy and laid back, but ever since Ashley and I brought Liam out here he changed. It was especially noticeable since he started going out with Nicole. His attitude was pissing me off
"What the fuck Luke? You know I'm trying to be a friend and help ya out, but if you're just gonna be an asshole then fuck off!"
I slammed the door of my car and grabbed my tux from the trunk. Luke got out and followed slowly and silently behind me. The front door closed quietly and I nearly died. It smelled amazing in this house. It never smelled this way and I knew my mom couldn't possibly be cooking. Noah sat at the polished oak table enjoying a giant cinnamon roll
"When did you go to the mall?"
"Huh?" He looked at me confused
"You made the whole house smell like a Cinnabon. Now I'm hungry."
"What? Sierra made these. I didn't go to the mall... idiot. Did you see me there?"
SIERRA'S POV:
I smiled walking through the swinging door into the kitchen. The next batch of cinnamon rolls should be ready to come out of the oven. It'd been so long since I was able to bake or cook. Mom wasn't interested much, but I wanted to do this anyway. I needed to find a way to find me again and it starts with Cinnamon roll Sunday... err Friday. The day didn't matter.
I put the big puffy oven mitts on my hands and pulled out the next pan of cinnamon rolls to cool. I loved the warm inviting smell of cinnamon. It reminded me of the fall and warm fires. Plus, who could resist a homemade cinnamon roll?
