"Are we happy plastic people, under shiny plastic steeples? With walls around our weakness, And smiles that hide our pain. But the invitations open, to every heart that's been broken. Maybe then we close the curtain on our stained glass masquerade." -Casting Crowns, Stain Glass Masquerade

I stand in the feed barn dumping new grain bags into the nearly empty barrels. I toss the now weightless bag to the side and laugh as Milo, Logan's kitten, jumps on top of it and starts to bat at the torn edge. The little kitten has grown in the last few months and now freely roams around catching any mice to deliver to her person.
I tighten the lid on the feed barrel before walking out to my truck. I find Owen sitting on the tail gate, watching Jenna as she dances around the nearly empty bed. I grab my water bottle from the cooler sitting on the tail gate and take a long drink. I toss it back into the ice and slide it closed again. Grumbling about the heat I pull my hair tie out of my hair and proceed to twist it into a high bun tightening the hair band to hold it in place. I turn to Owen and see him raising an eye brow staring at me. "Yes...?" I ask as I pull the sleeve of my tank top back onto my shoulder.
"Nothing, I just didn't remember that you had a tattoo." He tells me reaching over and pulling me to stand between his knees. "What does it say?"
I lean over and press a light kiss to his lips, and pull back looking at him. "That's the most recent one. It's to symbolize 1 Corinthians 13:13." I step back and turn so he can see the back of my neck. It's a small anchor with a heart on the top, and the cross in the middle. Cross for faith, anchor for hope, and the heart for love.
"I like it, not sure how I haven't noticed it before though." He says turning me back to him and motioning for me to sit next to him.
"I have work to do. Logan's still out of state picking up a new horse, and your watching this little goofball." I say pointedly. Jenna toddles over and stops next to her dad, and looks at me.
"Baywor! Me wonna dance wif you." She says reaching her hands over and trying to grab my hand from Owens. I smile and reach for her, tightening my arms around her as she jumps into my grasp. I set her on the ground and she steps her little feet onto mine and holds onto my fingers with hers. I step side to side slowly and take two steps back, moving in a little circle. "Wook daddy!!! Shwe dance wif me!"
Owen grins at us from his seat on the truck and pushes himself to a standing position. "Well I think dance time is over little missy. It's nap time, and then after maybe you can dance again." He grabs her little hand and laughs as she sticks her tongue out and pouts. "And where did you learn that?" Jenna stands up and flings her arms around his legs not answering.
"Bwut daddy I wuv you. I no wuv naps." She mumbles, but I can already see her eyes slowly sliding closed more often.
Owen lifts her up and walks towards the barn and I follow after him, then jog ahead to open the office door. Owen walks in and carefully sets Jenna down in the extra playpen and she's asleep within moments. "I love you too baby girl." He runs his hand over her soft dark curls and turns back walking over to me. He wraps his arms around my waist and presses a kiss to my cheek. "And do you know what? I love you too. Probably more than anything else." He smiles watching my face as I stare at him. Yes, he told me last month but it still gets to me every time.
I wrap my arms around his neck and look up to his brown eyes(A/N: I think I choose brown if not oops) "I love you too, and that goofy princess of yours." I rest my head against his chest for a moment before pulling back. "But really Owen, we do have work to do. Everyone has access to water and can get shade. Nutty and Sparrow, and Oakley can get back to their stalls through the their runs and Jasper has his stall and run, but I still can't let him into the pastures because he hurt himself again." Owen nods walking out of the office after peaking at Jenna one last time.
"I can get the last few buckets from the truck, if you want." Owen says looking over his shoulder.
Nodding I walk over to the storage room/bathroom, "Sure that'd be great. We can just keep them in here," I say pushing open the doors. I shift the older treats and horse medicines forward so they can be used first and toss the expired ones in a trash bag.
Owen comes in a moment later and passes a bucket to me as he empties his onto the appropriate shelves. I start separating the apples and the other treats into the containers they go in. "So if that's the most recent tattoo, that means you have more than one. Anything exciting?" Owen asks as he leans back against the wall. I glance over at him as I finish and walk over to him.
"You've seen it plenty of times when I'm in shorts." I tell him rolling my eyes at him. I walk out of the room and wait for him to follow before closing the doors again. "It says walk by faith not by sight around my left ankle." He links our fingers walking along next to me and stops at Oakley's stall.
