Kat felt dazed. Her eyes burned as the sun came in through the window. Her head pounded like a drum. Her face burned from the scars and her hands hurt from falling. He didn't remember anything from the night before. When her foggy eyes opened, she didn't recognize the bed she was in or the clothes she was wearing. She began to panic, thinking she had spent the night with her ex. She felt sick to her stomach. Then, she heard footsteps coming towards the room. She was so scared that she held her breath. When the door opened she was surprised to see Mark. "Mark!" She threw the blankets off of her and rapped her arms around him. "Where the hell am I!? What happened last night!?" Mark was surprised that she didn't remember. "What do you remember?" Kat held her head in pain. "I-I...I don't know...not much." Mark held out a glass of water and some pills. "Here. It's aspirin. Maybe when the headache is gone you'll remember a little more." He smiled. Kat relaxed a little and sighed. "Thanks Mark." She took the pills and the water from Mark. After she took them her eyes popped open. "Do I smell bacon?" She asked in a tired excitement. "Haha, ya! I made breakfast for everyone!" Kat smiled really big. "I could use some bacon." She giggled. They walked down the stairs to the kitchen. "Tyler and Ethan went out to get groceries. Tyler dropped most of the eggs so I sent them out to get more." They both laughed as Mark fixed them both a plate.
As they sat and ate, Kat's headache slowly went away. "So, do you remember anything yet?" Mark asked with eggs in his mouth. "Kind of." She replied. "I remember my ex boyfriend coming over half drunk. He kelp apologizing for...a lot of stuff." Mark noticed her hesitation in talking about what he had done to her. "I remember...drinking and then he tried to kiss me. I pushed him away but..." She started to lose her train of thought. "Ugh...The rest is faded." Mark swallowed his food. "So you don't remember texting me? Or even leaving the house?" Kat nodded. "That's why I was so freaked out this morning. I thought I was at Shane's house. I thought we..." She stopped and looked back down at her plate. "Don't worry about it Kat. You're safe here." Kat smiled. "Can you maybe...tell me the rest of last night?" Mark felt his face heat up a little. "Should I tell her she kissed me?" Mark shook the thought off and began explaining. "So, you sent me a text, asking me to call you. When I did you were crying...a lot." Kat turned red in embarrassment. "You told me your ex showed up at your house and he tried to sleep with you so you left but he followed you. So I asked you where you were and I drove to pick you up. When I got there he was hurting you. So I..." Mark began to choke on his words. "You what?" Mark cleared his throat and laughed nervously. "I uh...punched him." Kat's eyes grew wide. "You punched Shane!?" Mark then stammered, "Y-ya." Kat began to laugh. "Oh my god! The heart throb of youtube punched my ex boyfriend!"
They both laughed a little long. Then Kat collected herself. "Anyway, what else happened?" Mark cleared his throat once more. "After I punched him he stumbled off. We got into the car and came here. You were really scared and upset so I tried to comfort you. Then you...um..." Mark began to turn red while he tried to explain. "What did I do?" Mark didn't know how to say it. "You uh...kind of...kissed me..." Kat's eyes widened as her face turned pink. "I...I kissed you!?" Mark nodded while scratching the back of his head. "O-oh my god Mark, I am so sorry! I didn't mean to...I mean...I didn't know I-" Kat quickly cut herself off. "I should go." As she began to stand up, Mark stood and took her hand. "N-no don't go! I mean...It's okay. No need to apologize." Mark smiled nervously. "But I total embarrassed myself." She felt to ashamed. "No you didn't. You were drunk and feeling vulnerable. It happens." Mark smiled at Kat, trying to reassure her. She then let out a sigh of relief. "Thanks for understanding Mark. And..." As she continued, she hadn't noticed how close Mark and her were. "Thanks for not...taking advantage of the situation while I was drunk." They both smiled at each other. Mark began to lean closer to Kat while they were still holding hands. They were only inches away. Until they both heard the door click open. "Hey guys we're home!" Tyler called out. Mark and Kat scrambled to look natural but both Tyler and Ethan saw through it. "Uhh...should we give you two some privacy?" Ethan asked while raising an eyebrow. Kat turned bright red under her glasses while Mark protested. "W-what are you talking about." His voice cracked. Tyler wanted to have fun and tease them but Ethan spoke before Tyler could say anything. "Never mind. We got the eggs!" Tyler huffed and pouted at him. "Aw I wanted to tease them." He whined. "Another time Ty." Ethan giggled while he played with his hair.
"What are you still doing in your pjs Kat? Don't you have work?" The world came to a pause. "OH SHIT!!! WORK!!" She quickly dashed back up the stairs and into Mark's room. While she ran around to get dressed, Tyler began to tease again. "So she slept in your room huh? In your clothes?" Mark turned red while trying not to make eye contact wtih Tyler. Ethan dramatically cleared his throat, which caught Tyler's attention. "Too soon Ty." He added. Tyler laughed, "Okay okay! I'll back off for now!" Mark was still red as Kat ran back down the stairs. "I got to find a way to work! Fuuuuck I'm so late!" Mark began to protest. "Don't worry Kat, I told you I'd give you a ride." Kat stopped in her tracks. "Oh thank goodness! Thank yoooou!" She turned and hugged him while Ethan and Tyler observed. Ethan quietly fangirled while Tyler smirked. When Mark and Kat both noticed, they quickly stepped away from each other. "I'll uh...go get dressed." Mark coughed. As Mark ran up the stairs and Tyler went into the kitchen, Ethan asked Kat a question. "Soooooo, what's going on with you and Mark?" She quickly turned red. "N-nothing! Just friends being friends." Ethan sarcastically agreed. "Oh ya, totally!" He giggled. When Mark came back down the stairs, he grabbed his keys and they headed out the door. The drive was pretty short since the hospital wasn't far from Mark's house. When they got their, Kat rambled to make sure she had everything. "I have an extra pear of scrubs in my locker thank god." She giggled. She then paused and looked at Mark
They arrived at the hospital. "Thank you again Mark." He then laughed, "No problem! I'll give you another ride if you need it!" Kat then laughed. "No. I mean, thank you everything. For getting me, taking care of me, and just...overall being a great friend." They both smiled before Kat gave him a hug. "You're always welcome." He added. "Bye bye!" She called out as she closed the door. Mark then got a warm feeling inside. "Oh jeez...am I falling for her?"
