My mom and I walk down the frozen deserts aisle. She hasn't mentioned anything about the whole Kai thing..She doesn't really pay attention to celebrity gossip but I was certain uncle Ron would have told on me by now. I toss a couple pints of ice cream into the basket for myself and contemplated whether or not I should tell her.

   She's my mother I don't normally keep secrets from her, unless of course it would get me in trouble..but wait I'm grown! I can't get in trouble now!...but what if this upsets her...

   "So, you gonna tell me about how you got that car? Or what you're thinking so hard about? Or maybe even about this
little event you're going to?" Is she fishing for a confession? Maybe this is her way of bating me into coming clean?

"I- uhhh..its a work car. Its for running errands. I assume it will be alright to use it since its for the dinner tonight." My hands begin to perspire. I feel something cold and slightly wet smack the back of my neck. My heart hammers in my chest and I look down to see a bag of frozen peas on the floor. She threw peas at me?

"What the hell kind of idiot do you think I am!? You think I don't know whats really going on?" I begin to stutter and sweat. I knew she was testing me!!

"M-m..I-I UHM" my mind was drawing a blank. How mad was she?

"You gunna sit there stuttering or are you going to explain yourself?"She nudges me to the side and takes control of the basket. I sigh and prepare to own up to my wrong doings. I had this coming.

"Im sorry momma, I don't even know how I got wrapped up in such a mess. I went to a bar and kai just started hitting on me, of course I said no. After a series of events, I will spare the details its not all that interesting, I ended up being his dang secretary. Hah, could you imagine? Me...a lowly secretary to that cocky, self righteous bastard of a kid. Kai powers..." I scoff and shake my head"if i didn't need the money I wouldn't have given the offer a second glance. It will all be over soon enough anyways." We walk in silence for a couple aisles. Why isn't she yelling at me?
The silence began to gnaw at me. Its not normal for her to be so quiet. She should be yelling and lecturing about...I don't know, mom stuff.
"So how did you find out?" I already know it was Uncle Ron. Cant hold water..

"You just told me." She begins to chuckle to herself."you're so easy to trick" My eyes widen and my head gets lighter. Ah shit I pimped myself."What the hell you hidin' that for? You a grown ass woman with two jobs. What ima do? Spank ya?" She giggles and throws a small container of strawberry cream cheese into the cart. I feel my eye twitch." But you SHOULD keep it from your brother if you still want to live."

"I know, I know he's been asking questions about the car. What part of "Work car" don't you understand?" I shake my head. I notice the slight grimace on moms face.

     "Well not many jobs provide a car that stylish unless you work for someone incredibly rich, you giving  up some tale, or you are a limo or cab driver"I guess that makes sense."you're definitely not giving up any tale right?" My face heats up more than it already was.

"Geez mom..lets just check out, please?"
