"I dont wanna hear it! He's disrespected me after everything ive given him. Lets see him live without me now." Kais dads voice travelled through the cracked door of the study.

   "Don't you think you're being a bit much?" Kai's mom screamed from the study. Kai and i sat awkwardly in the hall listening to whatever spilled out."for God's sake they got married without us!" I heard a crash. Kai reached out and grabbed my hand.

   "Dont worry too much..." He whispered to me.

    "Why do you only think of yourself! The boy finally settles down and you cant just be happy!"  Another crash.

    "Well honey, how come after all of these years NOW he decides to settle down. Its not fair, ive had this planned for years!" a set of footsteps clunked up the stairs catching our attention. It's that dude! the golf party dude! ...the cupcake thief!

"Heyy, it's the little cooking woman!" He said with a smile but stopped dead in his tracks when he head the mess going on in the study."Trouble?" I nod.

"Nessa, remember when i tod you i had an older brother...that it." kai said without even looking in his brothers direction. Oh great dont tell me theres problems there too?

 "Dont you know how badly ive been looking forward to this!?" Mrs.powers screamed. She seemed to be on the brink of tears now. I felt bad. Its really not her fight to worry about. Even kai doesn't seem to want his dad's approval this much...if at all.

    "Well....we could always try for another baby? Then we can wait for him or her to get married! Then i have someone to pass the business down to." The room went quiet. A whole minute passed and not a word was said. Enough is enough. I spring to my feet and tug kai ready to leave. When the study door burst open slamming into the wall behind it.

 Kai's mom stormed out but stopped when she saw kai's brother. She looked shocked.

"Kallen sweetheart, you weren't due back for a week." She reached her arms out to bring him in for a hug which he gladly accepted. Mr. powers stumbled out of the study with a defeated pout on his face, much like kai's.

"Honey, im sorry it was just a tiny joke is all." He tugged at the back of her dress and she swatted him away.

"Lets see you laugh at the divorce papers." She seethed. She made a move to fly down the stairs but Kallen grabbed her by the arm.

"No ones getting a divorce. Let's skip the theatrics." 

Mr.Powers eyes flicked toward kai and i. The obvious look of distaste on his face made my blood boil.

I made another move to drag kai out of the house but Kallen stopped me as well.

"Woah, what's with all of the hostilities?" he frowned at me.

"Im not staying anywhere im not wanted." I shrug.

"You can go, leave my son." i roll my eyes at my father in law

"Sorry to tell you, seeing as he's my husband now i feel like its part of my job to protect him from situations like this. You hit him last time, this mess isnt good for his mental health or physical." I feel my body starting to shake with rage.

"Oh you guys got married, congrats...no invite for big bro but its fine. " Kallen rolled his eyes but i could hear the playfulness in his voice.

"No one got an invite!" Mrs.powers complained "Because your father is being a brat and cut him off. kallen's mouth formed a small O shape. He nodded understandingly.

"Father, you cant dictate everything your kids do. You couldn't do it to me, im not sure why you're so shocked you cant do it with Kailand." Kai scowled at his full name.

"B--But..I--I" Mr.Powers wagged his finger accusingly at us all. "i see what this is...you're all turning against me." I suppose i knew what i was in for when i signed the papers this morning, but i still cant hep but want to run away from this situation. It feels like we're getting no where.

"Dad no one is out to get you." kai rolled his eyes. I still couldn't get a proper read on how he was feeling about all of this...

"Father, how about this...just talk to them. You dont have to approve because they're already married. At least be civil, he's your child. Imagine they have a baby and you miss out on that." Mr.Power's awkwardly glanced around the 4 of us, seemingly thinking. "Not saying forgive or forget just yet. Just stay open minded is all." 

"Do it or im moving back home." Mrs.Powers smirked. This seemed to effect Mr.Powers greatly.

"Fine...You're still cut off...but i suppose you're no longer dead to me." Mr.powers rubbed his hands together nervously. After a what felt like a minute of silence but was really only 10 seconds he threw his hands up and stormed past us all with a huff. "i need a drink, dont contact me for 24 hours." He thumped down the stairs. Mrs.powers followed close behind grumbling to herself.

"Now that that's technically taken care of." kallen turned to me and kai. "Welcome to the family chatty little sister!" He reached out and yanked me out of kai's grasp and into a bear hug. I clench my teeth. Uncomfortable, but welcomed..."So you turned out to be the woman my brother kept chasing around, neglecting responsibilities and breaking a few rules for." He smiled brightly as he held me by the shoulders. My face burned. fuck do i say to that?

"Shut up, gimme!" Kai reached his hand out for my safe return, kallen graciously accepted and released me.

"I was thinking about you missy." He wagged his finger at me, seeing kai scowl at his words he rephrased."What you said to me that day. I agree, we could be doing better things with our money. I hope you're happy to hear i've opened a 5 new soup kitchens and i donated to a charity for poor kids." Kallen wiggled his brows at me. How did i not notice that day...he looks so much like kai...and like mr.powers...they all share the same childish mannerisms. I should have put two and two together...

"Wow! That's amazing!" i clap my hand on his shoulder, i could practically see his tail wagging at the attention.

"Stop it..." Kai mumbled tugging me back into his chest.  Kallen stares at his younger brother in silence. I glance between the two, curious.

"Im going to head out, you two talk." He smiled at kai and backed away towards the stairs.

When he was gone Kai rolled his eyes and took a seat in his chair. He finally looked something other than indifferent.

"Whats wrong?" I ask. He groaned loudly running his hand over his face

"It's just, i dont like this feeling." He confessed. "I always felt like he would pull some crap like this, so i felt like i was on egg shells anyways...i just figured it would be because i messed up the business in one way or another or perhaps burned down the house."

I try to console him by rubbing his back. This is the first time he really spoke his feelings on something so personal.

   "You heard him in there. He's willing to have another child just to replace me." Kai slumped back in the chair defeated.

   "Kai, calm down. He said it was a joke." I try to force a laugh to get him to lighten up. It didn't work. Maybe it was more of a bother to him than i realize."if it makes you feel better i doubt at their age they're going to try for another kid." He smirks at that.

     "Right..."

     "Plus, at least now he's open. Things will get better if you just give him time to adjust. He's just not used to you doing your own thing... Ironically." He nodded but still didn't smile.

    "You're right. Things will be fine, because i got you now."he took my hand and stroked it like a cat. "You're my new forever." He gave me a pointed look. Like he had a double meaning behind his words. "Right?"

    "Obviously." He laced our fingers together and sprung up from the chair a new pep in his step.

     "Good. No take backs." God this man is so childish.
