Love is all I need

Chapter 1

He swept me up in his arms and twirled me around. I grabbed his neck and laughed.

"I missed you so much!" He gently let me down and bent down to kiss my forehead. "Love you sweetheart! "

"I missed you too Dad!"

People parted around us, making way like water around rock.

We were at the airport and it had been almost a year since I saw him last and I had been waiting for this day for weeks! It was good to see him at last.

I took some of his luggage from him and started walking towards the car.

"How was the trip?"

He laughed. "Oh God, I was stuck sitting next to the most obnoxious passenger ever! She was about your age...she kept calling the air hostesses to complain about one thing or the other, 'The soup is sour', 'the AC is too low' , 'the blanket is too thin' "

He smiled at me and said, " I'm blessed to have the perfect daughter!"

I smiled back and him and loaded the bags into the car trunk.

"I'm driving!" My dad said.

"No way! You must be exhausted! Just sit back and enjoy the ride...."

I jumped into the driver's seat before he could protest and started the engine.

He was strangely quiet throughout the journey, staring out the window, deep in thought.

I looked at him from the rear view mirror. He looked older than the last time I saw him...he had new wrinkles around his eyes and many grey hairs sticking out.

"What are you thinking dad?"

He broke out of his reverie. "Huh? Oh, I was thinking about that girl on the plane, I think she was going home for her wedding from what I could make out with her loud conversation with her mom....and I got thinking....it's about time I start looking for a suitable groom for you...."

I almost hit the brakes in shock. The car swerved a bit.

I got the car under control. Barely.

"What?!"

He looked at me through the mirror. "What 'What?!' You're nearly 24. " He said calmly, voice brooking no argument.

I planned on continuing this once we reached home, for now I'll let it slide, he's not going to listen to me now anyways....
