I look into Nathan's eyes untrustingly considering all the ways this could possibly bite me in the butt. "Fine," I finally consent. "Then let's go; we don't have much time until the sun starts to rise."
I follow the stranger wearily through my kitchen and out the back door onto the patio. It was a cool night with a gentle warm breeze, I note. Nathan walks towards my family's line of bushes along our property boarder. He moves his hands towards his belt and I realize he has two daggers, one on each side of his body. He motions for me to follow behind the bushes; I shake my head refusing to move sensing the possible danger. Nathan shrugs, stops, and helps a red headed girl up from a crouching position. "Endelyn, this is Fila. She makes all the plans," he says with a wink. "Wait, how do you know my name? I never mentioned my name," I state. With a sly smile and a shrug he replies, "I just know."
Fila leans down and picks up a quiver of arrows and a spear; I notice she has a bow slung over her shoulders. She looks at me shyly and asks, "Are you going to bring a backpack? Or do you plan on living off of nothing?" I look quizzically from Nathan's steady blue eyes to Fila's big brown ones. Nathan laughs. "You didn't think you were coming with us for a day trip, did you? Besides, you're in pajamas," he points out blandly.
I give Nathan a good glaring. "Whatever, but before I run off with you for no apparent reason, explain."
