POV-Nathan
“Crap, it’s starting,” I think to myself as I rush towards Endelyn who is staggering out of her house. “What the heck was that?” shouts a confused Endelyn. “Nothing,” I say as I seize her arm, forcing her to drop some food, and drag her through her back yard as well as her neighbor’s and out past the neighbor’s front lawn and onto the street. We run with Fila tailing swiftly behind us.
“We need to make it through the portal before sunrise,” says the intelligent redhead from behind me. “P-portal?” stutters Endelyn. “Yeah,” I explain, “there are a series of set portals that open and close at a specific time. This portal will bring us to what you can call our home base. It’s about two miles from your house. We need to hurry, c’mon.” Endelyn nods and continues to run beside me. “Can you lead us to Deerhurst Park? That’s where the portal should be waiting for us.” I ask Endelyn, feeling foolish for not double checking directions before Fila and I came on this little mission.
Endelyn sighs, “Follow me.” She picks up pace, her ponytail bouncing behind her. I fall back next to Fila. “You know, I remember how to get there,” Fila scolds. I say nothing. Endelyn makes a right turn then a left across a deserted street. I see hints of red and orange speckling the sky as we approach an open area lined with trees. “Is this it?” I ask. Endelyn confirms.
