Pov-Endelyn
I have to admit, I am very shocked with this concept and all. Who would’ve guessed a couple strangers needing directions would suddenly take one's self in the dead of night? Definitely not I. I pull a straight face as we race up to the portal. This is not what I would have expected when someone said “portal.” I would’ve thought of a shimmering mirror or a plain wall, like in a cheesy movie. I sure hope this isn’t supposed to be discreet. What I see in front of me is the equivalent of a miniature hurricane. I cannot help but to gape at it. “Impressive, right?” says Nathan with a smug smile.
“What the…” I trail off. With a laugh Nathan explains, “The portals are activated by whichever stones are nearby. For example, Fila’s air plus my water equals hurricane, such as we have here. If it was just me the portal would be a shallow puddle or pond.” I nod my understanding even though I don’t really. Fila tries to further explain, “If it was just the air stone you would be transported on a gentle breeze.” I raise my eyebrow at them. “Whatever, let’s go.”
Fila walks towards the portal first and Nathan motions for me to follow. I watch dumbfounded as Fila walks straight into the hurricane, it consuming her. I see nothing but her fiery hair whipping into tangles. I start towards the gateway and hear something whistle past my head. Looking over my shoulder, my eyes widen in fear. Behind me are three people, two men and one woman, dressed completely in black and heavily armed, faces obscured with …well…. a tar like substance. “To the portal, now!” yells Nathan drawing his daggers.
I make no hesitation to follow is order.
