Chapter 13
Dustin
It didn't take long for my mom to file a missing person's report, and it didn't take long for news to travel around the town that I was missing and I hadn't been seen for a while. Mom was freaking out a lot and Felicity didn't really understand what was going on.
Mainly because Mom told Sophronia that she told Felicity that I was staying with Sophronia's family for a bit because she didn't want my younger sister to worry about it.
And technically, I was staying with Sophronia. I found it a bit weird to stay him where I couldn't open and close doors whenever I wanted.
Now I knew how Sophronia felt when she was invisible and trust me, it was the weirdest feeling ever. I didn't have to eat anything, and that was the worst part.
Well, not the worst, but pretty bad.
"I have an idea where we could go," Sophronia said while we were in her bedroom. I was extremely bored, with nothing to do, so I was up to going anywhere.
"Where?" I asked.
"Blake's dorm room at the university," Sophronia said. "Remember when I was invisible and he ended up seeing me later on? What if he can see you now? You two are best friends, after all."
"It's worth a shot," I said. "How are we going to get there, though? I doubt you want to walk all the way there, especially in the snow, and I can't drive..."
"We'll take the bus," Sophronia said. "I just hope it won't be too crowded otherwise it would be hard for you to be on there."
"Okay," I said. "Are your parents fine with you going out?"
"I hope so," Sophronia said.
She threw on a thick sweater, then put her phone and wallet in the front pocket before we headed down the stairs. Her mom was sitting on the couch and immediately looked over. "Are you going out somewhere?" she asked.
Sophronia nodded. "Yeah, I'm going to Blake's dorm room."
"Blake?" her mom asked.
"Oh, he's Dustin's best friend," Sophronia said. "We thought we could take... about Dustin."
"Oh," she said. "How are you holding up?"
"Good," Sophronia said. "I trust the police. They'll find him. So, am I allowed to go hang out with Blake?"
Sophronia's mom nodded. "Yes, but be careful."
"Don't worry, I will," Sophronia said.
Sophronia put on her boots and opened the front door, then pretended to adjust her boots so I had time to walk out. After she walked out, she closed the door behind her before we headed to the bus stop.
We left at the perfect timing because the bus showed up shortly after we reached the bus stop, and we were thankfully the only one waiting. After she got in, I quickly got in as well before the door closed. She paid for her ticket, then we sat down on two sits behind an elderly lady.
"It feels weird not paying for a ticket," I said. "Like I'm committing a felony." Sophronia didn't say anything. "Hello? You could at least say something."
Sophronia took her cell phone out of her pocket and typed something in the Notepad App. I leaned over to see what she was typing.
It will seem like I'm talking to myself.
