Two Weeks Later

Casey and dad returned to work and mom started working part time at the vintage clothes store instead of full time.

Alex, Char, Meg, Andrew, and I still hang out. Meg practically killed Caleb when she visited him in the county jail two days ago.

The press is still trying to bombard me and dad with questions. Luckily dad asked the chief of police to keep them as far as possible and I haven't seen a reporter near our neighborhood since.  That isn't keeping them away at public places though.

Everything is falling back into my normal life before all of this. But it won't be normal for a while. I still jump when I hear dad loading his gun in the morning. And I practically avoid the Jake in my grade.

School started and surprisingly nobody is giving me stares. Everybody is acting as if nothing happened, which is good.

The jewelry everyone wanted, well it never was missing.  And was never worth as much money as Jake and SM thought it was. The jewelry is in its rightful place as the shop.

Now I just need to stay out of trouble...

I spot a reporter waiting at the entrance of the school building like a vulture.

And that will be hard...
