"My beautiful Beverley. I am so happy to see your beautiful face."
Papa. I saw him. Short, white and all.
I was laying in a forest, white gown, hair down and un-brushed. He helped me to my feet, and for some reason, I felt no urge to hug him. I almost felt anger.
"Do not dare speak another word until you tell me what has happened!"
He let out a soft laugh," you are already sounding like quite the royalty."
"Spit on royalty, spit on it all. I want to go back home, to high school to my best friends. God only knows what is happening to them right now!"
"Do you want to see what is happening to them right now?"
I snarled in his direction, but he held out a hand. I refused his hand but did walk in his direction. Silently, I followed him through the forest for what felt like forever. He suddenly stopped in front of a puddle. He knelt down in front of it, and motioned his finger in circles through the water, causing a rippled effect. Before I could ask him what kind of prank he was pulling, Ariana's familiar face appeared in the water.
I let out a gasp and dropped to my knees, eyes focusing on her image reflecting in the water. She was laying in a bed, sleeping. Her blonde hair was surrounding her head, but the rest of her was tucked safely within a blanket.
"She's safe, healthy and safe," Papa said as he kneeled beside me.
"Ari!?" Her face slowly disappeared, but Accalia took her place.
"Oh my word, Accalia!"
There she was, swimming in a harbor. Easily recognizable due to her fiery red hair. Except she had a green tail.
"Why does she have a tail, papa?"
"Think, Bev. You were all princesses once."
"So... Accalia is a mermaid?"
"I'm really glad you get good grades in English, because logic doesn't seem to be your thing." He joked.
"Logic! Nothing about any of this is logic! Time travel, princessing, it's all insane!"
"Beverley, breathe. I am here to show you how safe your friends are."
Soon, images of Camilla, Scarlett, Rebekah, all safe and sound.
I looked up to the sky. Pondering.
"My dear, I am sorry I am not with you there."
I looked over at Papa, sorrow filling his eyes.
"I-I- Just don't know what to do."
He took my hand firmly in his hand.
"Listen to me, dear. I raised you on the knowledge that this day may occur. You were born with the brains and strength. It may not seem like it now, but this is a part of you that you'll grow to love, it is in your blood. Focus, learn. Take any opportunity you can to see your girlfriends. Trust Marlee, trust Lucy, trust Adam. I know them, they are on your side. "
I took in his words like water, absorbing all of it.
"Take care of yourself, but remember, France is your country. They are your people. They were 18 years ago, and they still are today. It is not my place to explain to you what happen, but you'll learn. I am so proud of you, and keep yourself safe. Don't lose hope, make allies, make a plan, but also find the library, that is where you flourish. You will find your answers where you least expect them."
I nodded quickly in his direction, taking mental notes of his hints.
"You will love this Bev, royalty is in your blood, you are all where you belong."
I smiled, feeling more myself. Maybe I could do this, like a giant investigation.
"There we go, I can see that confidence coming back in you now" he smiled at me.
"I love you, Papa."
"I love you most my sweet girl, we will be reunited soon. But until then, live out your destiny."
--------
I woke up.
Beside the door, where I first passed out. I slowly rose to my feet, letting the blood rush through my body again. Confused, I walked slowly towards the blind-covered windows.
A sunset. Beautiful. Orange, red, yellow, time-stopping.
Had I been unconscious all afternoon?
Memories of my dream with Papa in my head made me smile, my girls were safe, Papa knew I was safe, and it is only up to us to navigate this new world.
I needed that.
I walked towards the door, moving the lock and opening the door itself.
As I pulled the door back, a body fell onto my feet.
"Woah!" He yelled, clearly startled from me opening the door.
"Adam?" I was concerned and knelt down beside him.
He looked exhausted.
"Have you been sitting against the door waiting for me to come out?"
"Of course I did, I love you. I wanted to know what I did, how I upset you. Because I love you."
He made me smile, that geeky smile that was growing on me over the last few days.
"Can I trust you?" I asked
He nodded ferociously, " I made the promise to you that it is us against the world, and it still is."
"Good. Becuase I haven't been honest with you over what happened during my disapearance. I need to tell you something."
