*Alyssa's POV*

I roll over in the middle of the next and feel Sam's arms wrapped around me. Isabella is moving around quite a bit. I place my hand and Sam's right where Izzie is kicking. He jumps a little when he feels her kick and his eyes flutter open.

"Wow. She's one strong little girl" he says with a smile, still half asleep.

It seems like all is well in the world, if only Jack was here to feel his little girl kicking like this. But then, suddenly, something felt very very wrong. She kicked harder. and harder. and harder. and more violently. Sam jumped up and got out of bed right away.

"I'm going to go get the nurse" he says as he quickly opens the door and heads down the hall.

"Nurse! Nurse!" I hear him yell.

This is it. I can feel it. This is the moment where I need to be strong for Izzie and she needs to be strong. She's going to come out and be the healthy, beautiful, smiley baby that I've come to know and love. But I need Jack to be here. She needs her daddy.

Sam comes running back into the room along with a team of nurses and doctors. Things start to get a little foggy. All I can remember is the oxygen mask being put onto my face.

*Sam's POV*

My heart is racing. One minute I'm feeling Izzie kick around in Alyssa's stomach and the next I feel Alyssa's heart practically jumping out of her chest. I think she thought it was the baby. Which makes me even more nervous. I quickly run and get the nurses. They call the team of doctors and nurses on call and they all rush into the room.

"Push 400ccs and get an epidural started. Let's get her to the OR. It's time to get this baby out and get her heart stitched up" the doctor orders.

"Sam" Katy says as she tries to snap me out of my trance.

"Sam, instead of just standing in the middle of the room panicking, why don't you go get Jack" she suggests.

"Can I just bring him here?"

"Yes, just have the nurses assist him into a wheelchair, wheel him up here and you two can wait out here" she states.

"Okay, okay I can do that."

I run to Jack and explain to the nurses the situation. They get him into a wheelchair right away even though Jack insists on walking. And then we head to the waiting room of labor and delivery.
Another couple of hours goes by and we just sit there and wait and wait and wait for what seems like forever.

*In O.R.*

*Surgeon's POV*

"scalpel"

Man this does not look good. I need to try my hardest to save this girl AND her baby. I've been her doctor for a while now and I cannot let her down. I know she's been let down by dozens before.
The nurses all seem to be just as nervous as I am.
We begin the C-section.
Alyssa is heavily sedated so i'm worried about the sedation getting to her heart. It's weak enough as it is.
The baby is out. She's not crying yet. There's no sound. The whole O.R. is silent other than the beeping of the machines keeping Alyssa's vitals stable.
It feels like time has stopped in it's tracks.
And then, I hear it. The beeping of the monitor rises rapidly, blocking out the sounds of Isabella's first cry as a newborn. At least I know I've done one thing right.
Now it's time to save Alyssa.

"Pressure's dropping!" a nurse yells.

"Her pulse is weakening by the second!" another exclaims.
