CHAPTER 1: THE NEW GIRL
# BELLE #
Plato Académie is one of the most prestigious schools in the world. People from ages 11-17 all over the world go to Paris, France just to study there. Now, how did I get a scholarship? I don't know either. I'm just pretty lucky, I guess.
"Are you ready?" My sister, Penny, asked. I nodded. "It feels different here," I sighed. "But I'll be fine." She nodded and pulled me into a hug. "E-mail me every weekend," she instructed. "Call me every night. See you on break." That was very big sister duty of her.
I grabbed my entire luggage and went in the main building. I tried so hard to ignore the stares I got. Is that what I get for being new? Well, yeah.
My eyes started to search for the Headmistress's Office, but it's hard to find it in a sea of people.
"Hello," someone behind me spoke. I turned to see a pretty blonde girl about my age. "Um," I smiled weakly. "Hi."
"New?” she asked. I nodded. "Well," she held out her hand. "I'm Aleisha." I shook her hand. "What's the trouble?” she asked. "I can't find the Headmistress's Office," I answered. "I need my room assignment and class schedule."
"It's over there," she pointed at a door at the end of the hall. "Do you want me to walk you there?" I shook my head. "I'll be alright," I smiled. "Thank you, Aleisha." She nodded. I waved then walked to the office.
The Aleisha girl didn't sound French, so she's not from here. She didn't sound American either, so no way was she from North America (like me). Maybe, British? Australian?
I followed her directions and I found the Headmistress's office. Thank God! I entered the room and I was met by the glare of an older lady. The secretary, I suppose.
"Bonjour," I said. "I'm Isabella Reed. Je venir classe programme et--- uh," Crap, I forgot what's "room assignment" in French.
"Let me guess," the woman said in her French accent. She spoke English, it caught me by surprise. "You came here to get your class schedule and room assignment."
"Uh," I stuttered, "Oui." She rolled her eyes. "You can speak in English now, child," she said. "This is an international school. Of course, we speak English."
I felt myself flush. I wasn't assuming that she didn't understand English. I just didn't want to bother anyone, so I made it easier by speaking French; or trying to speak in French.
"Here's your class schedule," she said. "And your room is Room 7, House of Paix." House of Peace? Paix is French for Peace. Cool. Man, I sound so stupid. "Have a good first day," she sighed. I thanked her and walked out of the office.
Now, I have to look for the House of Paix. I kind of wished I ran into Aleisha again, but no show.
As I keep walking, I still get the new girl stares from people but I ignored them. They're wasting their time. The longer I stay; they'll find me boring anyway.
I walked out of the main building then to the Housing areas. Where could the House of Paix be? I sighed. Desperate times call for desperate measures. I need help. I shall ask, in a nice way.
