Prince Castan walked at a furious pace down the halls of the castle.
Why does that old croak believe that he can embarrass me like that in front of MY men?!
He ran up the cold stair ways that were due to the arrival of fall and sped at the sight of the grand doors before him. He through open the doors with a noise that seemed to shake the building and walked straight into the room with his cape flowing behind him.
"Oh brother, as dramatic as ever I see. Who stole your sweets this time?" Prince Conan laughed.
"SHUT UP YOU WEASEL! Mother, how can you let that old fool still be commander? He has less wit than a dumb peanut!
"Haha, look mother, he's losing his mind! Dumb peanut..." Prince Conan stomped his foot and laughed even louder.
"Grrrrrrr, MOTHER!"
"Children settle down! I fear time has placed me back during the time when you were 5 and he was 6! Mom, he stole my sweets! Mom, he stole my sword! Mom, he tripped me in front of the high priestess! Ugh, children. Spare me from your bickering at one another! Your nineteen and he's twenty! Act like men!"
"Mother, the commander-."
"-is one of the wisest and most knowledgeable commander I can ever have. He has dedicated his life for the army for the past fifty years or more and I have given him orders to watch you as well."
"But mother, like you said. I am nineteen-"
"Who acts like he was born yesterday! You are not ready to lead an army into battle, Castan! You use your powers at your own advantage only to acquire women and tonics! Was I deaf to hear that you almost killed one of the wielders that were found today!" Queen Meridissa roared in fury and she stood up. He gown was a dark purple with black sashes wrapped around her waist. Her head was surrounded by the high collar from her dress that made her neck seem longer, and her actual self seem taller. Her hair was pulled up in a bun behind her head with blonde curls flowing down her neck. Her eyes seemed to look darker as she stared at Castan with accusation.
Prince Castan backed up a bit, he didn't intend to feel his mother's wrath. Even Prince Conan jumped at the sound of her voice.
"Mo-mo-mother, I was merely trying to...make her feel welcome. I-I mean it was all in good fun, mother. I didn't mean to frighten the poor girl..."
"Did you remember thinking that when you were HIGH ON CRYSTAL!!!"
Shit, how did she...Frank...
Prince Castan kept his mouth shut. He knew that if he attempted to defend any part, he would burn in the flames of her screams.
"You see, Castan, THIS is why I cannot let you do anything that princes normally can do. One day, one of you will ascend the throne and I do not focus on age, but of character. You, my son, have no discipline. I do not foresee your place here on this throne. I blame myself for how you are, but it doesn't matter."
She sat back down and stared at Prince Castan with pity/love/embarrassment. "You are dismissed, Castan."
Castan turned to his brother and he in turn looked down at the floor. Castan slowly turned around and walked out of the room at a slower pace. His breath seemed to fade out and he ran down the halls like a little boy towards the gardens and he sat beside the pond and wept in sadness and anger toward his mother, his brother and himself.
I live in a seemingly perfect kingdom, however I am broken. How did I get here?
