Chapter 4

P.E. dragged on and on. Everyone had to sit in the lobby due to the acrobats setting up for their show (which was going to happen during the last class). Charlotte didn't mind it starting during that time. She never cared for History anyway.

The bell finally rang and Charlotte ran straight to her Math class. She cursed the school for giving a limited time for students to get to class, and especially students who were on the other side of the campus. She got there just when the bell rang and sat down with a huff.

"You having a good day Charlotte?" asked James, the brainiac.

"Not... to bad... I guess," Charlotte replied out of breathe.

For the next hour, Charlotte stuffed her head with parabolas and quadratic equations. She ended up with some homework problems and a headache.

Her third class, Art, went by quickly. Chase and Morgan were in her Art class and all three just drew pictures of everything and anything. Nobody in that class would dare touch a pencil besides the three of them. They called them the 'Three Muskeartists'. Charlotte liked art and mostly drew pictures of nature and landscapes.  People were so complicated to draw to her. There was just so much detail in the human face whereas nature was just lines and dots.

English rolled around, which was also Charlotte's favorite class. Paul and Gracie always took over the class with there poems about each other that made everyone including the teacher tear up at the end. Terms like 'high school-sweet hearts' did not even describe the love between Paul and Gracie. Some people thought it was true love. Charlotte somewhat agreed, but she was never into the lovey-dovey stuff.

After English came the meeting. Charlotte's hands were sweating as she walked to the room where it would be held. She held her papers in a fist and walked past her classmates towards the table. The meeting was only going to be ten minutes, but Charlotte was always nervous when it came to things like this. Then she remembered. Jerrald was going to do all the talking, not her.

Charlotte looked around the room and looked for Jerrald and found Mrs. Jannette staring back at her with a hint of disgust.

Alright then...

She spotted Jerrald laughing with his gang and she boldly walked up to him with annoyance in her eyes.

"Hey Jerrald," Charlotte interrupted.

"Oh, hey! So I'm guessing Mrs. Jannette told you what she wanted you to do?"

"Perferred is more like it Jerrald, but anyways here are the announcements I want discussed during the meeting. Otherwise I am going to be scrambling after Christmas break."

"Oh, sure thing Charlotte. I'll get it done," Jerrald looked down at the list. "Um, are you sure you want me to say this?"

"What are you talking about?" Charlotte asked.

"I don't think we should be doing these fund raisers next year."

Charlotte, irritated, replied, " I already talked with the principal and he said that we could do them. It's already been decided."

"Hm, well I am going to have to have  a talk with him then," Jerrald said as he walked up to the podium.

Charlotte felt a knot form in her stomach. The principal already agreed to Jerrald being the speaker. Charlotte had a gut feeling that he would probably agree on Jerrald's 'ideas' of fundraisers as well.

Great, just knock me down a bit more will ya?

Charlotte saw Richard, the guy from the bus, sit down, look up, and then get back up and walk out mouthing to Charlotte I'm sorry.

Charlotte smiled a bit as she found a seat in the front and quietly sat down. Everyone started to calm down and Jerrald's voice finally cut through the crowd as he finished up his little story with his friends.

"Good afternoon everyone! Welcome to the 50th class meeting we've had so far!"

Everyone laughed except Charlotte.

"Now for the agenda for next semester."

Jerrald droned on as he read every single word off of Charlotte's paper. Charlotte noticed people starting to fall asleep in the first few minutes.

"And finally fundraisers! Now this list might change, but here are the ideas."

Charlotte face-palmed as Jerrald read through the list, and adding little snide comments to every single one the them.

Charlotte almost started to protest until all of a sudden, the doors blew open and in came the 'monkeys'.

"Oi! This ain't the lunch room! What is this foul place?"

"It's alright Bob. Just the stench of seniors in the room is all."

"Oh my stars, it's horrifying!"

"Bob! They can hear you!"

"Runt! They can hear you too!"

"Excuse me, but you said you were looking for the lunchroom?" Mrs. Jannette asked.

Runt cleared his throat. "Actually we came to announce our invitation for your class."

"Yea, who is the leader of this stink bunch?" asked Bob.

Both heads turned toward Jerrald.

Jerrald stuttered," S-She i-is," he pointed at Mrs. Jannette.

Mrs. Jannette stood up and started to speak when Bob interrupted her.

"Nah, she too old and ugly to be the leader of this pack. Where's the younger one?"

Mrs. Jannette briskly sat down and pointed at Charlotte in an angry tone. "She is."

Charlotte stood up unsure of what to say or do. Normally, no one talked to the class president. They always had to go through Mrs. Jannette. She approached them and asked, "What is your invitation?"

Bob's jaw dropped and Runt pushed him out of the way and answered Charlotte."We have finished preparing our stage and would like to give the seniors the first part of the show. Please, may your class attend?"

Charlotte looked back at Mrs. Jannette and her class and everyone shrug their shoulders.

Charlotte had no idea what to do. So Charlotte answered for them.

"Sure. we'll be there in five minutes."

"Splendid! Oh the qu-"

"QUILT WOULD GO GREAT WITH THE STAGE COLOR!" Runt yelled.

"Oi."

Bob and Runt turned and started to run down to the gym. Charlotte caught a smile spread across Bob's face.
