Chapter 5

I groaned and stretched as the kids around me bustled and packed away their things, laughing with their friends as they go. I was talking to a few of my own class friends about the test we'd just written as I also started tossing my stuff into my slingbag, I'm not a complete loner.

"Geez, I did not expect it to be that hard," Kyle groaned, "and this was only a preparation test for the actual exam!" He ran a hand through his brown hair, his tanned face scrunching up in horror whilst his green eyes shone with humour and mischief as they always did.

"It wasn't that bad, I found it quite easy," Janine said with a grin, blue eyes and that cheerleader smile jokingly taunting Kyle.

He scowled at her and tried to flick her nose as she jumped back in surprise, blonde hair swishing in it's ponytail and her pale face laughing as the the two kept at their little fight.
Anyone looking from the outside would think they were a couple, but no. Believe it or not, those two were brother and sister, even though they were as different as the sun and moon they still got along like two peas in a pod.

They aren't biologocally related, both look completely different from each other and their parents, but they were adopted together so they're the same age. But that never stopped them from treating each other like real family.

I laughed and turned to Jordan, the last one in our little group as she raised and amused eyebrow at the two teens who were now making faces at each other in another one of their little competitions.

"How was the test for you Jor?" I asked as I finally slung the bag over my shoulder.

She shrugged, "It wasn't really as difficult as Kyle makes it out to be, but it definitely wasn't a show-up-and-ace-it kind of test, you should've studied if you wanted to do well. I personally think I did pretty well since maths is one of my best subjects, but then again I said that last time with Biology and look how that ended," she grimaced as she also picked up her bag.

I laughed as I remembered when Jordan wouldn't come out of her room cause she got a B- on her Bio test and just sat there and ate ice cream. Eventually we had to barge in there and drag her out ourselves. She was a straight A+ student, so it made sense she was so down in the dumps about it. But after a while she admitted she thought she could ace that test without studying as much as she was used to. She eventually got over it, but from that day on she never didn't study for a test.

Jordan and I were the super smart ones of the group. Kyle and Janine weren't dumb, they were far from being stupid, but they didn't do as academically well as Jordan and I.

Kyle was our sports guy, did practically every sport in the school. And Janine was the Drama Geek, she'd gotten a lot of trophies from competitions and had already been spotted by multiple Art Schools and offered a spot in their drama department. She was still deciding on which university she wanted to go to after high school. Same went for Kyle and sports, the guy was a prodigy, he could play just about any sport and do great at it.

Jordan and I had also been offered spots in schools for our academics, but I was still deciding. Jordan on the other hand already knew where she wanted to go: The University of Tokyo. It was rated number one out of all of the universities.

"Let's go guys," Jordan said to Kyle and Janine as she turned towards the door, her shoulder length black hair swishing as she walked. Her brown eyes were darting over her shoulder to see if we were following her.

"So," Kyle began as he walked with his hands clapsed behind his head, "You guys wanna do anything now since school is over? Today was technically the last day since finals are starting," he said.

"Can't, sorry Kyle, I gotta go pack since we're leaving for my grandpa's house tomorrow and my boss called me in, one of the guys are sick so I gotta fill in for his shift," I sighed.

"Bummer," Janine complained, "And yeah, I forgot you told me you were going away this weekend."

We all stopped at the light where we usually split for our different routes, "Yeah, sorry guys. Well, I'll see you after the weekend then," I waved at them as I started walking my way as they all said their goodbyes as well.

I opened the front door and walked in, closing it behind me. I didn't bother saying I'm home since both my parents were at work. My mom was a financial director at some company I can't remember the name of and my dad worked in the film department as a producer. Pretty cool job departments, but I myself wanted to become a (insert dream job).

I threw my bag down on the floor of my bedroom and got out of my uniform, getting into a comfortable pair of jeans and a nice Nirvana shirt and a (f/c) hoodie with black pumps.

"Alrighty then," I spoke to myself as I rubbed my hands together and threw open my other cupboard doors, "let's get started..."

I groaned and flopped down on my bed, "Too much packing for one afternoon."

Now you would think that packing for one weekend wasn't so bad, but I happened to be a very indecisive person, and therefore I'd end up over packing for just about every trip.

I threw a glare at my finally sorted and neatly packed piles of clothing and shoes that had been checked a few times to make sure that this time I didn't over pack. "I win this time indecisiveness!" I called up to my ceiling in triumph.

I glanced at my clock and sat up, "Oh hey, it's almost time for that shift I gotta take over from that sick guy."

I got up and grabbed my sling bag and shoved my phone, earphones and wallet into it. Hey, you never know when you might just see something you really like and then you don't have the money for it, so I'm just always prepared. The mind of a shopaholic was peculiar indeed.

Mom and dad was still not home since they worked late, but I was used to it, even if it was kinda lonely sometimes seeing as I didn't have any siblings.

I walked out and closed the door behind me, humming (f/s) as I locked it and shoved the key in my bag.

As I went on my way I looked at the sky. It was slowly becoming darker as nighttime approached. I looked forward, breathed in and smiled, throwing open the door to my workplace and greeted my colleague at the counter. He simply grunted a hello back as I made my way to the back and to the changing rooms for the females to get into my uniform and start working.
