Crazy, Stupid Idea

"Will he possibly take pity, you think?" I ask. Dalton shakes his head. "It's highly unlikely. Kyler's ruthless. He killed his love, after all." I sighed. "I just think if we reminded him about her, maybe he'd slow down." "V, I told you that story to tell you how heartless he is, not exactly to show you he just might have a weakness." Zaiden says. "I'm worried. What if he kills someone? And what will he do to the humans?" I asked. Dalton smiles sweetly at me and grabs my hands. "Let's go. C'mon." I frowned. Why is he smiling? What was it that I said that was something to smile about?

"Where are we going?" I asked him while slightly freaking out. He laughed. "Am I the only one who's nervous about this?" "Vanessa, has it really set in that you're a vampire?" Dalton asks, completely avoiding my question. "Sure it has. That's why I'm freaked. This is officially my fight." I said. Dalton smiles calmly. "You got confidence in your becoming a vampire? Lucky. I got an uncontrollable thirst for blood." I slapped him in the stomach. "Why are you so mellow? We're having war declared on us as we speak. You heard Kyler. There are demon armies underneath us, waiting for the cue." He laughs that perfect laugh. "I'm not exactly mellow. I just can relax a little since you're a vampire and can pretty well take care of yourself." I frown. "I guess you're right. Ha! I don't need your saving! I'm not helpless." "V, did you catch the relax a little part? I still feel responsible for you. If anything happened to you, I'd still feel like it's my fault I didn't protect you." His eyes show sadness even though I'm right here.

I lean forward and kiss him gently on his lips. "I will be fine. You will be fine. Your brothers will be fine. Everything's fine." He scoffs. "Says the girl who was just freaking out about a demon army." He smiles slightly. "We just swapped places, didn't we? Now I'm the worried one and you're the mellow one." I laughed. "Ugh! This is horrible! Why couldn't I have just become a vampire and that's it? lf the demons must come, at least wait until I'm used to being a vampire." Dalton isn't smiling. "That's the thing, Vanessa. You can't control yourself yet." I frown. "Uh, how many people have I attacked? None. I think I'm fine." He tries to stifle a smile. "But if we're in battle, and people start bleeding? Zaiden won't be able to handle himself. Who's to say you won't?" "Ouch." Dalton looks behind him to see Zaiden. "If you wanted to talk crap on me, you might want to go a little farther than the front door." Dalton and Zaiden chuckle. "How's Ruben handling all this?" I asked when they were done laughing. "Ruben is a little worried, but naturally the calmest of us all." Zaiden smiled. "He's so crazy. And stupid. Do you remember when we were fighting off Christopher? And Ruben had that plan to go out and fight him alone? He almost died."

As Zaiden was talking, I got a crazy, stupid idea of my own. What if I go talk to Kyler? What if I stopped him from destroying us all and it was just a little talk that halted it all? I'd be the hero this go around.

Of course, I wouldn't tell the boys. They'd just tell me no. That it was too dangerous and Kyler would never give in. I'd have to just sneak away and do it. And I figured why wait long?

I would sneak out tonight and save the world with just my words.
