He had tricked me. He wasn't opening up, he was creating a diversion so his puppets could come in here and attack me!
"Don't be alarmed. They won't kill you. I'll have that honor." Kyler grins. Demons, short and tall, boy and girl, all surround me. "Bring her along. Father will want to see this." A demon boy jumps down from a tree and locks chains around my wrists. "Get off me!" I yell as I try to break out of the chains. "Sorry, sweetie. Vampire proof." Kyler laughs as he leads the army of demons away.
Dalton's P.O.V.
"Where is Vanessa? Did she say where she was going?" I asked. Ruben shakes his head. "Damnit! Ruben, you gotta keep her here at all times. Especially when she thinks she can save the day." As I spoke the words, something clicked. "Oh no. No, no no!" I slam my fists on the kitchen table, breaking a little off the corner. "Son of a bitch!" Zaiden walks in then. "Whoa, what's wrong with him?" He asks Ruben. "I don't know..." "Vanessa went to talk to Kyler! She went to stop him, but he won't stop! He's going to kill her!" Zaiden takes a deep breath. "Hey, hey! Calm down. V isn't as fragile as she used to be. She can hold tight while we get ready. No need to break things..." Zaiden falters as I march over to him, very enraged. "I don't care that she's not as helpless as she used to be. I'm not letting her go it alone. I will find her and I will bring her back." I march out the front door. They sped after me. "With us, right?" They asked in unison. "Sure. So long as you don't screw anything up." Zaiden looked hurt, but Ruben ignored me. "When have I ever screwed anything up? If it weren't for me, you would've never even meet Vanessa. She would've just been the girl who almost shot you with an arrow." Zaiden says. I laugh at the old memory. "Yeah, I guess you're right. Thank you for biting my girlfriend way back when." I said. "Not a problem." He laughs a little. Ruben taps me. "Hey, uh, you might want to look for me. I caught a stench of demon." I tensed as I smelled it mixed in with Vanessa's scent.
"C'mon, guys. Head in the game." Ruben gasps. "You were the one goofing around!" "No need for the blame game." I said, trying not to laugh at his face. At least he can't tell I'm laughing... "Seriously, though. This is no laughing matter." I walk a few feet forward when I pick up Vanessa's scent even stronger. "Demons. A lot of them." Ruben says. "Can you tell how many?" He thinks. "Hard to tell. Twenty? Possibly thirty. Some were in the trees, some underground." Ruben had the best nose out of the three of us. It was like since his eyesight went, his sense of smell increased a ton. "Damn. Why did Kyler need so many?" Zaiden asks. "Maybe it wasn't Kyler sending them all." I suggest. "It could've been his father." I shutter at the mere mention of the Devil. "Pick up the pace." I tell them. "Yeah. I'd hate for you to miss me kill your girlfriend." I skid to a stop as I heard Kyler's voice.
"Where is she?" Kyler chuckles. "She's....in a safe place. For now. But at this very moment..." Kyler jumps down from the tree he's standing in. "I need your attendance. The war is coming, vampires. I'm ready. Are you?" And with that, he disappears in a puff of smoke.
"A safe place?" Zaiden and I wondered the same thing, he just beat me to the words. "The Underworld." Ruben says. I turn to him. "How can you tell?" "The stench of demon and fire gets really strong right here. It must mean the Underworld opened up." "How do we get in?" Zaiden asks. "They wanted us there. They'll bring us in." Ruben says. "So what? We just sit here and wait for them to open up like it's some sale? No way! We're going in now-" I barely finish my rant when suddenly the ground begins to tremble. "Yes, we are." Ruben says smugly. I calmed myself for about five seconds, but the second I thought of Vanessa being down here, I lost my mind again.
"Welcome to the Underworld!" Kyler greets us. "Home of the most despicable, rotten people." He smiled. "You wanted to know where she was?" I ran at him, but fire...people blocked me from touching him. "No one touches the prince." One said in a deep voice. "Prince? Please. I'm no prince. Well...I guess I kinda am-" "Vanessa." I remind him. "Right. Look up." He points and follows his own finger. "Vanessa!" I call. "Dalton?!" She yells. Since I'm directly below her, she can't see me from the cage she was locked in. "Let her go. She has nothing to do with anything between us." "I said you owed me. Do you not remember? I saved a vampire, the very least you could let me do is kill it." Kyler said, smiling. "No. Not her." Kyler looked intruiged. "If you must kill a vampire, kill me." I said. "It's tempting. It really, really is. I just don't want to kill you. Not really badly, like I do her." "Then kill me." Ruben says. "Now there's an idea." I look to my brother, pleading with my eyes.
"But I wouldn't be fulfilled. And before you ask, no, I wouldn't kill you, either." Kyler says to Zaiden. "So you only take joy in killing girls?" I asked. Kyler looks to me very slowly. He runs up to me and stabs me with a knife. He picks me up off the ground, squeezing my throat. "Does this answer your question?" He asked through gritted teeth, then throws me backward, and I realize with a start, that I'm falling straight to lava.
