All I could do was wait. Two more days until the grand reaping and I was just turning 15. I was sure that I was going to be chosen, to be in the arena. My name is Paylor Dove, and I don't really have a true family except my step-mom. My real mom was.. Well, I really don't know. My Step-Mom had told me that my mom was a Career Tribute. District... I actually don't know. She participated in the third Quarter Quell, and had left me with my Step-Mom. The only thing I remember about her is her bright blond hair. Just thinking about her smile makes me feel warmer.

Where was I? Ugh. Sometimes to me it feels like I have amnesia. I was thinking about the reaping. So while I was thinking about the reaping, I fell asleep. It only seemed like only 2 minutes when I woke to the sound of mockingjays tweeting softly the well known tune. The tune was to signal when work time was over in District 11. Then I realized that no one likes to whistle any more. We thought our days of whistling Katniss's tune had just begun, after she killed Snow, the first. But no. I looked out of my window, and saw my two best friends. Then, I realize tomorrow is the reaping and there could only mean one thing. I squealed with delight and ran down stairs. They both had come to spend their last day with me.

Their names are Kym and Kayla two sisters from district 7. Kym was a brown haired, blue eyed, sassy, slim, sneaky, and agile looking girl. Her sister was like her, she was also brown haired and blue eyed, thin, slim, sneaky, and very sly. I tie my dark hair into a tight ponytail and stare at the two girls until I come back to reality, and hear Kayla beckoning Kym and me to go the stables.

As we run off to the stables and mount our horses I hear Kym giggle, "Your highlights look very bright and blonde today, did you dye them?" But she too knows that the highlights in my hair are always bright and are from my true mother. Our horses canter over to our weapons base, a hole dug so deep that even the tallest man couldn't crawl out, but we installed a ladder and covered the hole in leaves. I take a axe, and both Kym and Kayla grabbed a hatchet. Though they were from district 7, which is lumber and paper, neither of the sisters liked using axes. It reminded them too much of their district and how they had to work.

We gallop into the woods outside of the district near the train station so the peacekeepers don't see us, and I immediately decide to go in deeper. Something moved in the bushes. The Sister's horses moved back. That's when the mountain lion pounced, my horse jumped and I fell. I cried in pain. The wet ground clung to my body. I tried to move but pain flared up my left arm. I realized it was the arm I used to hunt and survive. The last thing I saw was a dark black bird imitating my yell of pain. It was too late for me to realize that we had been tracked by Peacekeepers all the way from my house. Then the whole world went black.

Suddenly, I found myself having a flashback. It was a good memory though, it was the day when I became best friends with Kym and Kayla. At that point we were all 11 because my birthday is in December, and their birthdays are in some time earlier in the year. I bumped into them when the train stopped in District 10s market . At that time I had enough money to buy a horse. I raced to the horse selling stands and looked at all the horses. Behind me I saw the two girls Kym, Kayla walking up to the same stall. I decided to talk to them. I walked up and said " Hi". That's when I heard the scream. It was the voice of a young woman. Her scream was agonized. Then everything was silent. I turn my back to see a girl, around the age of 18 sprawled on the floor bleeding half to death.

Frightened, I did the opposite of what I was to do, I ran up to her. Looking back I saw four other people, Kym, Kayla and two Peacekeepers. I run over to the weapons stand, grab a bow and a quiver full of arrows, ignored the yelling salesman and tried to avoid a bullet. Suddenly, the whole world seem to go in slow motion. Unfortunately, the bullet punctured my calf's skin. Before I could scream my head off, somebody pinned me a to the ground and ripped the bullet out of my skin, and the whole world sank...

Eventually, I woke up screaming my head off, and saw the girls Kym and Kayla standing over me with worried faces. "Are you okay?" asked Kayla. I look over to see two men, one trying to pull a sharp stick out of his leg and the other was pinned to a stable with two hatchets. I sat up and so my leg, it was wrapped in cloth. I almost fell over but Kym caught me, "Wow!" she said " Be careful, you don't want to hurt it." "Who took out the bullet from my leg?" I looked at them until Kym raised her hand. I didn't have time to say how much it hurt and how much a thanked her before we heard footsteps. "It's the Capitol, grab a horse." said Kayla. I grabbed the pitch black stallion's reins and mounted on to him. "You should call him Starlight." said Kayla ¨Nah, you should call him Seabright.¨ I hear Kym say. ¨Actually,¨ I say, ¨I'm going to call him Firewind."

I look back at Kayla. She's on a white stallion while Kym was on a light gray colored dam. I asked them," What happened to the girl, did she die?" Kayla slowly nodded.

Suddenly, I come back into reality and Kym and Kayla are staring down on me just like in the flashback. But when I looked around, we weren't in the woods but in district 7. " You were out for a long time," I hear Kayla say. " Why are we in district 7" I ask. "I told my mom that you got hurt, so she bandaged your hand. It's probably sprained, but it will heal in a few weeks." I move my hand a little and pain shot through my arm. I looked up at Kym and Kayla's mom, and I gasped. "You never told me that!" I said. "Well, it was kind-of a little bit of security. Our mom" Kayla was interrupted by Kym who said " is Johanna Masons".
