Amelia's POV

14 months before

"What year was the Civil Rights Movement?" I asked Jeff looking up from the paper to see him looking confused

"It's okay if you don't know it! We'll read through the chapter and I'll ask when we're done with it" I said getting out the book

"Why am I even trying?" He said running his hands through his hair

"What do you mean?"

"I try to learn, I really do! But when I'm asked simple questions, I can't answer them" He said frustrated

"It's okay Jeff, everyone has their weaknesses. Before I was on the honor role, I knew nothing about history and Clay helped me. It takes time. This is only our second study session"

He lightly smiled "Well we need to think of something and soon. I have a test on this shit in a week"

"Maybe we need to study outside of school" I said turning the pages to the correct one

"You mean at like my house or yours kinda thing?" He asked with a smile

"Yeah. I don't see why we didn't think of it sooner, we live like two houses down from each other" I chuckled reading through to see where we need to be

"Okay. I'll climb through your window" He said making me chuckle causing people to turn around and shush me

I looked around at the people and made eye contact with someone I've never seen before. I tilted my head but then went back to reading the chapter

"Okay now I can ask, when was the Civil Rights Movement?" I asked looking at him scrunch his nose in thought making me lightly smile

"1955-1968" He said confidently

"Where? Just kidding yay!" I said lightly clapping

He chuckled "When you asked, my heart dropped but yeah yay!" He said all girly making me laugh at his cuteness
