Chapter 9: Bagels of Bribery
Emily's POV
"Trevor, what you're asking me basically violates every rule in the girl code book that we made in tenth grade. I hope you realize that", I stared hard into his blue eyes. Trevor shrugged and smirked.
"All I'm asking is that you divulge all the secrets of Kyla's past to me so I can tell them to Will, and he can figure out why she chickened".
"Yes, not at all violating any friendship rule", I deadpannned. "Go tell Will to suck it up and ask Kyla himself. To be honest I don't even think Kyla knows why Kyla ran away".
"WELL!", Trevor exclaimed and turned his nose up to the air, "I can see I'm not as importnant to you as Kyla", he dramatically looked far off into the distance.
"Yup", I smirked and scrunched my eyes closed.
"Fine, then I'm taking back this bagel I bought you", Trevor reached for my cheddar cheese bagel, which we had stopped at a coffe shop to get. I quickly licked all around the edge of my bagel.
"Here you go", I handed it to him with a neutral face.
"Thanks", He spoke emphatically and plucked the bagel from my hand, taking a huge bite.
"EW!", I grimaced. "You basically just ate my saliva". Trevor shrugged and handed me back my bagel.
"I really don't know why you get a cheddar bagel and then put cream cheese on it. Isn't that sort of redundant?", He questioned me.
"It is most definitely not!", I protested. "Without the cheddar bagel all you have is a bunch of goopy cheese on a boring bagel, and whitout the cream cheese all you have is ..... less cheese!" Trevor snickered at my poor argument. "IT'S JUST BETTER OKAY?", I raised my voice.
"I'll remember that the next time I try and bribe information out of you".
"The word is 'try' dear Trevor, because you will never get anything out of me. Not merely with a ride home from school and a bagel".
"I think a ride home in my beautiful car is an adequate bribe", he argued.
"Blah, blah.. Untrue words.... Hey, you know we just passed my apartment right?", I pointed out the window towards the brick building behind us. Trevor lurched the vehicle to a jerking halt.
"Shoooooot. Your distracting the driver from his destination", He said as he put the car into reverse, causing the car behind us to honk and then proceed to maneuver around our retreating vehicle.
"It's 'cause I'm so good looking", I brushed my hair from my shoulders jokingly. Trevor stopped the car in front of the building and I gathered my stuff into my lap.
"There's truth in your speech", Trevor smiled. I rolled my eyes in response and opened my car door.
"Thanks for the ride, and the bagel", I waved. "Better luck bribing me next tme!". I closed the door and Trevor waved as he puled away in his clunker that he calls a vehicle.
Kyla's POV
"What did you tell him?", I sat on the couch watching Emily as she painted. When she came home with a goofy grin on her face I had guessed only the obvious: Trevor.
"Huh?", Emily raised an eyebrow at me. I rolled my eyes and chuckled.
"I don't care, I just wanna know what he's going to tell Will", I assured Emily. She put her brush down and sat beside me on a bright red cushion.
