"And here we are," I said as I pulled up to the venue.
"And we're not late," Jack smirked.
"We almost are," I stated as we got out.
"Alex," he chuckled.
"Just get Libbie out of the back," I said as I smiled.
I grabbed the other things from the other side of the backseat as Jack got Libbie out of her carseat. She's only five, so she's still in one. That, and Jack and I and over-protective parents. After I grabbed everything, I met with Jack in front of the vehicle. He had a giggling Libbie in his arms, which made me smile. He put her down and took her hand, then they both followed me into the building.
Once we were inside, there were already a bunch of people there, not to our surprise. We were just verging on being late, so there's no doubt there'd be people there already. We looked and saw Pete standing up in front talking to some people. Once he saw us, he excused himself and practically ran to us.
"I'm so sorry we're late," I apologized.
"It's fine," Pete laughed. "From what I've heard, Patrick's stil getting ready."
"Seriously?" Jack asked as he chuckled.
"Sounds like you on our wedding day," I smirked.
"I wanted to look good for my man!" Jack said as he kissed my cheek.
"And you looked amazing," I said as I smiled.
"Totally cute," Pete said. "Now, you can go put your things in the first room on the right down this hallway."
"Thanks!" I said.
I took hold of Jack's hand and led him down the hallway that Pete pointed to. Pete insisted Libbie stayed with him, so it was just the two of us. Once we got to the room Pete instructed us to, we opened the door and waltzed right in.
"Jack! Alex!" Patrick said.
"Oh hey buddy!" I said as I did a little handshake with him.
"Hey man!" Jack said. "You excited?"
"More like nervous as hell," Patrick replied.
"Yeah, we met up with Pete and he said that it didn't matter if we were late because you were still getting ready, which her understood," Jack said.
"I know," Patrick sighed. "I'm taking forever."
"Hey, there's nothing wrong with being nervous," I said as I rested my hand on his shoulder. "The day Jack and I got married, Jesus, I was nervous as hell!"
"You were?" Patrick asked.
"My god, yes! So many scenarios are going through your mind; is he not going to show up? Is he not going to say 'I do'? Is he going to walk halfway up the aisle, then run? So many things," I said.
"I'm thinking about all of those," Patrick chuckled. "What if Pete is having second thoughts?"
"I can assure you that he's not. He seemed happier than ever," Jack said.
"He really did," I said.
"Seriously?" Patrick asked.
"God yes! Pat, the kid loves you to death. Remember the day we first met you guys and we had pizza?" I asked.
"Yeah," Patrick chuckled at the memory as well.
"From the first moment I saw you two walking down the street, the way Pete was laughing while you were talking to him, the way he smiled when you weren't talking, and the way he was holding your hand, I can tell. Pete loves you more than you could ever know, man," I explained. "And I would know because that's how I felt towards Jack."
"Wow," Patrick said, seemingly stunned.
"It's all true," I said.
"Now, you're going to go out there, Patrick, and you're going to get married to the love of your life, ok?" Jack said. "You have problems, you've got me, Alex, Joe, and Andy. You can do this!"
"You're right. I can do this," Patrick said as he adjusted his suit collar. "Let's go get married guys."
"Whoa Patrick! I didn't sign up for polygamy here! I thought it was just going to be you and Pete tying the knot!" I said as I laughed.
"You dick!" Patrick laughed. "You know what I mean."
"I know. Now lets go to a wedding," I said as I took Jack's hand, then the two of us followed Patrick out the door.
