It's Happening (Jack's POV)

Well, it's been about a month since Alex and I talked about a divorce. We're actually going to fill out the paperwork later today, then it's official. Sadly. He knows I don't want this, but I'm not going to force him to stay married to me. That wouldn't be good. On the bright side, I found an apartment downtown that's big enough for Libbie and I. I've been staying there for the last couple of days and frankly, it's kind of nice actually. After Alex and I fill out everything today, I'm picking Libbie up and she's staying with me for a few days. She's excited, she's told me over the phone. It feels so weird to literally have to "share" your own daughter...

Anyway, like I said, I got an apartment downtown. It's really spacious actually and it feels pretty comfortable. Its got an amazing kitchen, two bathrooms, a good sized living room, and three bedrooms. That means there's room for me, Libbie, AND an office/music room. I was pretty happy about that. Rian and Zack came with me for the day and helped me get everything of mine into the apartment. Sure, it was kind of sad because it was officially goodbye to the house and Alex, but it also felt like a new start, and maybe it wouldn't be so bad.

Now comes the fun part; the OFFICIAL official goodbye to everything. I'm meeting Alex at a place downtown to make this divorce official. The only thing I'm happy about is when Alex and I do talk, we don't fight. It's just a normal conversation, then a normal goodbye. In a way, it's heartbreaking because I can't say "I Love You" anymore...

"Coming!" I said as I heard a knock on the door. "Hey man!"

"Hey!" Pete said as I ushered him in. "You ready to go?"

"Yeah, just let me grab my sweatshirt and we can head out," I said as I walked down the hallway. "Thanks for taking me, by the way."

"It's not a problem," he said.

"There, lets get this over with," I said.

Pete gave me a saddened look, then walked out the door. I closed and locked the door behind us, then caught up with Pete. We walked down the hall and to the elevator. Once we got outside, Pete led me to his vehicle, then we hopped in. I told him where to go, then we drove for a good ten minutes. Just as we got there, Alex was getting out of the vehicle. He glanced at me, then lowered his head. As he walked in, we got out of the vehicle. Pete gave me another look, but I ignored it and walked in.

"I already let them know we were here," Alex said.

"Thanks," I said.

Pete and I took a seat across from Alex. No other words were exchanged, just a few glances here and there. Things were incredibly awkward, and I breathed a sigh of relief when a man called the two of us into a room. Pete said he'd stay in the hallway, maybe even go wait in the care or something.

Alex and I got up and followed the man into a room with long table. He instructed the two of us to sit next to each other, then he sat across from us, along with our attorney. He started to explain everything and what we'd be filling out, then the attorney would take care of the filing.

He asked us a whole bunch or questions and then asked why we were getting a divorce. Alex and I both answered simply with "irreconcilable differences." We talked more and were asked more questions. We had to sign what seemed like a million papers, but after at least an hour, maybe more, we were finished. Alex and I both thanked the men, then we left.

It was official.

We both walked out of the room. Pete was sitting in the same chair, playing on his phone. He looked up and asked if I was ready to go. I said yeah, then Alex said he'd have Libbie ready by the time we got back to his house now.

Pete and I got up, then walked out to the vehicle. Alex had already left. We got into the vehicle and it was completely silent. There wasn't much to say, I guess... It's just one hundred percent official now... I'm just going to have to accept it.
