Charlotte

Dave opens the door, and Alan, Dave, and Andy peer in.

Martin and I sit up, and the three of them look away.

"We're wearing clothes you idiots!" Martin exclaims. It's true, we're both in pajamas.

They just start laughing, and haven't stopped since.

After we all get dressed, I volunteer to run across the street to a little cafe to get breakfast for us.

It's all just so awkward.

Martin's hair, or the floof, as the rest of the world refers to it, was really soft. I woke up at 5 am and found myself smushed up against it. I fell back asleep, laughing to myself.

But I'd never tell him that.

When I get back, it's going to be a long day at the studio, and I'm mortified.

Martin

After Charlie leaves, I sit on a couch in the hotel lobby and pick up a magazine. Maybe they'll leave me alone.

Dave comes over and and stands behind me.

"So, Martin, I'm surprised you didn't handcuff her to the headboard or -" he says.

But before he can continue, I roll up the magazine and slap him across the face with it.

"Shut the fuck up, Dave! We were only talking!" I exclaim.

The three of them look at me with yeah, right expressions.

"I don't know why you're being so weird about this. I don't like Charlie like that. Clearly you two do," I say, pointing to Dave and Alan, "Or you wouldn't be all over me like this. Can we PLEASE move on?" I ask, unrolling the magazine and opening to the page I was on.

Andy shrugs. "Come on, Charlie will be back any minute, lets change the subject."

Dave

Charlie comes back with our breakfast, and the five of us get in Andy's car and drive over to the studio.

Alan offers to drive, so I sit in the back with Andy and Martin, and we let Charlie sit in the passenger seat.

Charlie turns on the radio and we listen to whatever crap is top on the charts.

It's a Duran Duran song, and she knows all the words.

"Before you judge me," she says in between verses, "My old roommate was obsessed with them, so that's how I learned all the words."

She's very into it, and dancing in her seat, it's very funny.

She's very cute. Her caramel colored hair is pulled back into a ponytail, and her blue eyes shine as she lip syncs the words.

When the song ends, she looks back at us.

"Well, that was embarrassing," she says. We laugh at her dance.

"Stop it!" She exclaims, but she's laughing too.

She then finds a station that plays Everything Counts.

We all start to laugh, then we sing all along.

"They play this song on the radio?" Martin asks.

I sing my part, and everyone joins in on Martin's part.

It's weird to hear yourself on the radio, but it's cool, too.

Shortly after the song ends, we pull up at the studio.

We're putting the finishing touches on our album, and it's going to be released in a few months.

Daniel comes in shortly after.

He pulls me aside.

"Really, a girl?" He says, nodding to Charlie.

She's sitting in the corner, eating an apple and reading a book.

"No offense, but we don't have any time for distractions, we're so close to the completion of the album. It's not going to get played on the radio. So we need to pray that it'll sell like crazy." He tells me.

"Charlie is not going to bother us, look, she's sitting quietly reading a thick book of Poe's works. She doesn't look like she'll be bothering anyone anytime soon. She was attacked a few days ago, so we can't leave her all by herself." I say, defending her.

He sighs.

"I'll take your word for it." He says.

Then, we get to work.
