Eerika ran her hand through her hair, as she released a tired sigh. Her heart sunk at the thought of what was happening. She had woke up a few minutes ago from the blurry phase of unconsciousness and was embraced by her relieved siblings.
Bonnie. Poor Bonnie. This wasn't supposed to happen; they were supposed to kill Nathaniel before it was too late. Bonnie would of lived, and she would get to experience a somewhat normal life. There was supposed to be a happy ending for the Bennett girl; Bonnie deserved a happy ending.
"I'm so sorry," the Cailleach mumbled, while grasping the cold hand of the witch. "You don't deserve this."
Eerika's eyes glazed with tears, as she took a breath. She had grown to care for the Bennett girl a lot through the past months. They had actually become close through the scheming of killing Eerika's husband and saving Bonnie. Maybe the circumstances of their strong friendship had been unfortunate, but they happened none the less. And Eerika was glad that it did.
The two girls had made a strong bond of understanding. Eerika listened to Bonnie randomly burst into rants about always being overlooked due to Elena, and how she truly felt about her mother's abandonment. Then Eerika would comfort Bonnie after the Bennett began to become consumed by guilt after her confessions.
Eerika assumed that since everything was always so focused on Elena, even if the doppelgänger didn't want it to be so, nobody ever paid attention to Bonnie's feelings or situations. Eerika knew that wasn't fair, and she was glad that she could be the one that Bonnie could talk to.
The relationship wasn't one-sided either. Bonnie had been the witness of multiple breakdowns on Eerika's part. And Bonnie was the one who took the Mikaelson in her arms and whispered soothing words. Bonnie allowed Eerika to truly grieve.
Eerika was never able to do that with her beloved family, not because she did not trust them, but because she was ashamed. She did not feel ashamed when she was with Bonnie.
"I'm sorry, Bonnie." Eerika shook her head before closing her eyes.
Eerika knew she made a selfish decision, but she could not lose the girl she had grown to care for. Eerika bit her lip and gave Bonnie's hand a gentle squeeze.
Bonnie's eyes suddenly flew open, and she gasped for oxygen. She looked around frantically, trying to piece together what was happening.
Her gaze landed on the guilty face of Eerika. "What happened?"A sob released itself from Eerika's throat. "Bonnie, I'm so sorry! I know..I know you'll hate it, but I was scared. I can't imagine losing you! I'm so selfish. I'm sorry..I'm so sorry."
Eerika's hysterical apologies startled the confused witch, and she slowly reached over to hug the crying girl. "Shh," she soothed, running her fingers through the Cailleach's hair.
Eerika shook her head and pulled away from Bonnie before wiping her eyes. This wasn't the time for crying. Bonnie needed answers.
"You're in transition."
Bonnie's eyes widened, as she struggled to form words.
Eerika pursed her lips in frustration. She had no right to medal with Bonnie's life. "The sleeping remedies," she whispered, "I've been slipping my blood into those."
Bonnie shook her head. "My magic..I can't feel it! No, no, no.."
Eerika clenched her eyes shut. Bonnie had lost her magic. She had lost a piece of herself, and Eerika knew it hurt.
"I'm so sorry..."
"Just stop apologizing! Why would you do that," Bonnie snapped, while hopelessness swarmed in her eyes. "Why would you do this to me? I thought you actually cared for me."
Eerika shook her head, desperate for the girl to understand, but Bonnie continued to rant out her frustrations.
"Don't you understand," Eerika interrupted in an exhausted tone. "I love you!"
Bonnie froze mid-sentence.
"I love the way you care so much and the way you protect your friends with your life. I love your seriousness and your sarcasm. I love the habit you have of rolling your eyes when your annoyed. I love your beautiful smile and your calming voice. I love everything about you, Bonnie Bennett! I couldn't lose you! I love you!"
Bonnie stared at Eerika in astonishment, before a small smile creeped onto her lips. Her arms wrapped around the blushing girl's neck and tugged her towards her. "I love you too," she whispered, before bringing the girl into a light kiss.
Bonnie and Eerika would have to adjust to the new circumstances. The concept of loving someone was foreign to them. They both feared abandonment, and they both were terrified of getting hurt. But they loved each other, and that was all that mattered.
Bonnie would, of course, have a hard time adjusting to a vampire life with no magic. There would be miserable days, but Eerika would be there to help her overcome them.
Eerika would never be able to forget what happened in her past, and she would still be haunted by the sickening memories, but Bonnie would be there for her as well.
They would make the best out of life and from now on work to experience the joy of the world with the other by their side.
They would live a life of happiness and work to fade the sadness that they each were stained with.
After all, they did have eternity.
Finished! It has been 3 fudging years since I started this story! Thank you for all your support!! You are all beautifully amazing, and I adore every single thing about each and every one of you!
