War

Eerika sat at the table with a polite expression, while containing her hatred for the man in front of her. He gazed at her with cold distaste and a nasty smirk, just like he did when they were human. Nathaniel had made his move by arranging a meeting place. It was a small house in a deserted town. The windows were barred with dust screens, and the broken door was painted with a wretched red color. The only thing in somewhat suitable condition was the large, black table that rested callously in the middle of the living room.

"I've missed you, darling." His deep, gritty voice sent a shiver of contempt down her spine.

"I never thought of you as a liar," she drawled, "A psychotic, power-hungry sociopath, maybe, but not a liar." His cold gaze flashed with irritation. He had thought he had taught Eerika obedience, but it seemed that she had forgotten her lessons.

Eerika inwardly smirked at the spark  of emotions. She knew he hated being disrespected, and she had strength now. She had the power to defy him. She had the courage to do so.

"I see you've grown an acid tongue. That stupid blonde of yours must of rubbed off on you. And me, a sociopath? Never. I believe you are referring to that bastard of a brother you adore so much."

Anger shuffled throughout the brunette girl. "Leave my siblings out of this," she hissed.

Nathaniel smirked with confidence. He knew he still had some influence over the girl. The past isn't erasable, and he knew he left a mark on her all those years ago.

She frowned, as she felt Bonnie's power leak from his body. The once pure power was now stained with bloodlust and insanity; she hated the thought of him tainting magic so clean. It was repulsive.

"Dear, there doesn't have to be a war. Just come with me, and everything will be okay."

A brittle laugh pushed through the girl's throat. "It is far too late for everything to be okay," Eerika snapped. "You're stripping my friend of her magic and causing chaos in my family!"

He rolled his eyes in annoyance. "God, I almost forgot how irritating you are. Eerika, that dumb Bennett girl is not worthy of magic! All she does is get used because of it! I've been watching for a lot longer than you know! Those friends of hers don't care about her! They only care about her magic!"

"No, you are wrong. They do love her, and the only reason you can not see that is because you are incapable or loving or being loved!"

His dark eyes flooded with malice, and he continued to spat crude insults at the witch.

"And now you are associating yourself with hunters? I knew you would make stupid decisions without me to guide you. You always were such an idiot! I'm not surprised you were the first to die out of the bunch, well, not counting that dumb little brother of yours. The one the hybrid caused to die."

Eerika's angry eyes slowly turned cold, as she began to fully process his words. Her hands gently pushed down on the table and her body followed. He watched with twisted satisfaction.

He thought he won.

The next words felt like a physical blow to the sadistic man. "Fuck. You."

His eyes widened. Eerika had always been good. She never drank, partied, or cursed. "What did you just say to me?"

"Do I really need to repeat myself? I said to go fuck yourself. You are lonely, and angry, and cruel! You are a shattered man who searches for submission in the place of love! I pity you!"

He slammed his fist against the table and rushed towards her. His hand wrapped around her throat, and he slammed her against the wall. Her eyes darted to the ticking clock against the wall. 'Just a little more time,' she thought to herself. It was almost midnight.

"How dare you speak with such a filthy tongue to me! How dare you treat me with such disrespect! And how dare you kill me all those years ago!"

***Flashback***

Eerika stumbled towards her and Nathaniel's hut. Her dress was stained with blood, and her mouth was as well. Her hands shook with fear and sorrow.

How could her Father curse her with this so-called gift? Why would Esther, the woman who despised the young girl with every fiber in her being, use such a dark magic that granted immortality? On Eerika, no less. Why would they curse their children with a never-ending life?

Henrik was dead, that she understood. She understood that Esther was scared of losing another child. She understood what it was like to have your baby ripped away from you by the cold, merciful hands of Death. She could not blame her father and Esther.

Her shaking hand pushed against the thin slab of wood that served as a door, and she limped into the unwelcoming abode. It was passed supper time, and she had not made Nathaniel his meal. He would surly bless her with another brutal beating.

"Why are you here so late? Have you been whoring yourself around the town village? Where the hell is my supper, you ungrateful disgrace? I work all day, and you can't manage to have a meal ready for me when I'm home? You're useless! A waste of money!" He took no notice to her haunting appearance.

His abuse turned into a ringing sound, while utter contempt consumed her. A feeling that she had never felt before erupted through her heart. Something far greater than hate submerged her mind. There was no name for what she was feeling, and that terrified her. But that fear only fueled the unidentified and untamable emotion.

He continued to spit hate at her, and before he could utter his last line of vindictive poison, she had her trembling fingers wrapped around his heart. Her crazed orbs met his confused ones, before she ripped the life from him. Tears coursed down her blood-splattered cheeks, as the full realization of what she had committed hit her. She was a monster, now. Always and Forever.

***Flashback Over***

A smirk crawled up her spine and onto her lips, as the ring of the clock echoed throughout the abandoned shack. It was midnight.

"Darling," she weezed, "I just want you to know..." Her fingers traced down his cheek before gripping his chin tightly. "that I don't regret a fucking thing." Power coursed through her body, and Bonnie's pounded throughout his. The two magics collided in a blurring haste. Eerika was powerful, but Nathaniel had a Bennett's magic, as well as some of the Cailleach's from when they were mortal, pierced into his bones. It was an even fight, well, almost. Their focus was on each other, while the two immortals fought for survival. Nathaniel failed to notice the hunter sprinting through the door and towards him, but Eerika did. Her smirk widened as an immense amount of power pushed through her heart. Today gave her strength. Today was the anniversary of her breaking point. Memories of her mother, her little brother, and her child dying burned in her mind.

"Today is the anniversary of the worst day of my life. I was unable to protect him," she whispered. "But I'll protect Bonnie. This is for Eilam." The end of the white oak stake pushed out of his chest, and his eyes slowly glanced down.

He thought he lost.

Eerika held her hands up to finish the job, but before she could bellow the spell, a sadistic grin morphed onto Nathaniel's face before his immortality was washed away.

"We did it," Jeremy cheered, his arms wrapping tightly around her weakening body.

"No, no, Jeremy."

"This is great," he continued, enthusiastically.

"The magic...Bonnie... it faded away."

He looked at her in confusion. "What?"

"I never finished the spell," she muttered tiredly, "he lost the magic. The connection was broken."

Sadness and disbelief filled Jeremy to the brim. Bonnie was dead, and Eerika had just passed out.
