The next morning, with still no clue on Remus' whereabouts, James and Sirius went down to breakfast, not waiting for Bilius this time, as they knew the passages bit well now.

Peter was still asleep, and it looked much easier to battle a dragon than to wake him up, amidst his loud snoring.

When the two boys arrived at the great hall, James saw Lily sitting at the Gryffindor table, slightly red and chatting animatedly with the second year girls and Alice.

"Morning, love." He said as he passed her and Lily just rolled her eyes.

Sirius grabbed on to the toast and smeared butter on top of it while reaching for coffee from the other hand. James arranged for himself an assortment of cereals and added tons of honey in it.

While they munched, the hooting of the owls was heard overhead. James looked up just in time when Darcy landed in his bowl. He untied the letter attached to the owls leg and unrolled it.

Dear Jamesie,
I hope your school is going all right. If you have heard what happened in the city, then you don't have to worry about us. We are all right. Your father's usually busy in his work now, and I miss you a lot. Please take care and don't wander alone outside the castle. It's not safe.

Mommy.

James did not know whether to feel relieved that his parents were okay or to worry that there was something that happened around his parents and they could have been harmed.

He turned to Sirius who was clutching a copy of the daily prophet in his hands, eyes widened with shock. James peaked at the paper from under Sirius's hand.

Twenty three murdered and six missing.

Earlier in the day, near the muggle settlements in Little Hangleton, three hooded figures were spotted using the fiend fire hex and breaking the statue of secrecy. Later, Three muggles were found dead, with no symptoms of whatsoever caused the death. It is suggested that the cause could have been the killing curse.

Later, the town of Godrics Hollow was attacked, and though the twenty who were found dead were muggles inhabiting the area, the wizards in the town were also found in a state of torture and pain, probably the victims of the cruciatus curse, informs a source.

After intensive search, it was also found that the six wizards who went missing were the ones who worked in the ministry. All the six of the wizards, Aldy Woodwork, Hannah Merryweather, Slater Fawley, Dart Halkman, Andrew Shafiq and Drew Selwyn, all worked for the department of mysteries in the Ministry of Magic. It is alleged that the wizards behind the kidnapping and deaths are followers of the dark Wizard, Voldemort.

It could have been his parents name there too. Though his dad was a potioneer now, he knew that Fleamont Potter was once a very well known official in the department of mysteries and muggle liability.

Stop worrying, James. It was before you were even born. It was a long time back. They are alright.

He took a deep breath and handed the paper back to Sirius.

"Hey, you kiddos, I went to check the dormitories but you all were out already. Though, good I did. Found Pettigrew in bed, he would have missed his first flying lesson." Bill's voice snatched James back from his worries.

"Flying lesson?" Sirius asked excitedly, as Lily and Alice came over to join them. Frank followed.

"Yeah, you lot didn't have your flying lesson in the first month, right. The rains were bad. They couldn't have let you Ickle ones flying in the harsh weather now." Bill snickered seeing Sirius's face crunch on the word 'ickle'. "So, your first flying lesson. You lot better learn to fly well. Once I and Denny and Josh are all out, it's gonna be you people who will have to take the team."

"But, can't I already try out for the team. I know how to fly, pretty well that too. And I am sure you won't get a better seeker than me." James scoffed.

"Oh, no, No firsties on the team. Try out next year, okay. By the way, Frank, when's the team tryouts?"

"No idea, I heard they were being scheduled for the next week, though." Frank and Bilius left the table chatting away about Quidditch.

Once the table was cleared, James turned to Sirius.

"So why do you reckon that you-know-who wants the ministry officials for?" James asked, whispering.

"Dunno. He's crazy isn't he, Old Voldy."

"I just hope he doesn't go after other wizards too." James says, casting his eyes down on his breakfast, thinking about his parents.
