Chapter 4:

I have searched everywhere. In buildings, around parks, under tables. He's not here! What if he left without me? What if I'm all alone on this planet? The sun started to creep under the horizon. Brilliant white dots started forming in the sky. It's going to be even more of a challenge searching for this man in the dark.

"Excuse me sir," I asked a random man. "Have you seem a man about 6 foot, brown suit, spiky hair, a bit eccentric?"

He stares at me oddly,"No ma'm."

I turn my head, and I gaze at the empty street, the aura from the orange street lamps lighting everything. My toes were about frozen off, and my ears felt numb. I wonder if the Doctor has left without me... I certainly would. If I ever met a person as stubborn as I, we would certainly end up in a quarrel... But this planet should at least have some sort of tracking device, Maybe I could—

I stumble backwards breaking out of my trance. I stare face to face with an ominous dark-haired man.

"Hey, watch―" The man notices the distress sketched on my face, and looks at me worriedly. "Hey. Are you alright?"

"That is none of your concern," I said bitterly, sending him threatening glares,

He rests his hand on the side of my face and stares at me, transmitting to me comfortable warmth. But I did not like the touch of another being. "Please. Trust me. I can help."

I stepped back,"I doubt it," I said flatly. "I'm on an alien planet with no resources. You see, I'm trying to find a man called the Doctor.

He raises his eyebrow,"Does your name happen to be Karliah?"

"Correct! How could you possibly know that..?"

He smirks, and holds out his hand,"Captain Jack Harkness."

I shake his warm hand, as he explains,"I've been looking for you! Well, the Doctor has been looking for you."

"Why?"

"Why?" he asked surprisingly, as if my statement was blatantly ignorant. "You're the only other Time Lord in the whole universe! He would never let you go." His eyes roll down me, as he winks. "I see why. I wouldn't either."

Is he trying to hit on me? I mentally laugh at his shocking audacity,

"Where is he?"

"Torchwood."

"Torchwood...?"

After receiving my blank stares, he looks offended,"Torchwood? The company that protects this planet from threatening extraterrestrial activity? Never mind... And what is with that getup?"

"What?" I put my hands on my hips. "I look fine, don't I?"

He grins wolfishly,"You look more than just fine. But not in those clothes."

I raise my eyebrow.

"Here," he zips off my vest, and throws it on the ground like nuclear waste. Now, I'm cold. It's the middle of winter and I'm left with a thin, black, long-sleeve shirt on.

"Hey!" I snapped protectively. I felt vulnerable and exposed... "That had all of my knifes inside it!"

"Exactly." He seizes my arm, and starts to fiddle briskly with his bulky watch,"C'mon sweetheart. Let's go."

I stare at it curiously,"Is that a Vortex Manipulator?"

He smirks proudly,"Yeah. Like it? It was pretty tough to get my hands on one of these."
