Not too long after my world was sent into uncomfortable blackness, I wake up. A dull ache throbbed at the back of my head, my body aching. My eyes shifted to a woman leaning against the railing of the stairway, as she spoke quickly into her radio,"Two individuals. White male and female, mid-twenties. Breaking and entering. Send me some back up, I've got them restrained." As she recognized that I had awoken, she shoots me a glare,"Oi! You. Sit still."
I rolled my neck, clearing my throat,"A cricket bat?"
"You were breaking and entering."
I tried to stand up, but I failed, and immediately fell back to the wooden floorboards. I glared at my wrist, which was chained up with a pair of handcuffs to a heating radiator. I then spotted the unconscious Doctor, as my breath hitched in my throat,"You didn't. Oh, perfect, this is exactly what I needed."
"Do you want to shut up now?" she snapped. "I've got back up on the way."
"Hang on, wait, you're a policewoman?" I tilted my head, pondering why a policewoman would be wearing such a short pencil skirt.
"And you lot were breaking and entering," she said coolly. She made a slight gesture with her hand,"You see how this works?"
"What are you doing here?" I questioned suspiciously. "Where's Amelia?"
Her face flooded with shock and curiosity, and she took a step closer,"Amelia Pond?"
"Yes! Have you seen her? Amelia, little Scottish girl, where is she?"
"Amelia Pond hasn't lived here in a long time..." She said quietly.
"How long?!" I demanded.
She seemed a bit hesitant to respond, and I could obviously tell she knew the girl,"Six months."
"No, no!" I said in disbelief, poking the unconscious Doctor with my boot. "Doctor!" I yelled loudly, in hopes to awaken him. "We've gotten a bit far! We promised five minutes! Well, I guess the engines were phasing, after all..."
The look of shock still painted across her face, she turned around, speaking into her radio once again.
"What happened to her?!" I asked urgently. "What happened to Amelia Pond?"
Ignoring my questions, she faces her back toward me,"Sarg, hurry it up. This woman knows something about Amelia Pond..." As she faced the other way, my gaze drifted to a door. The door.
"I need to speak to whoever lives in this house right now," I said urgently.
"I live here."
I furrowed my brow, my suspicions growing higher,"But you're the police."
"Yes, and this is where I live!" She said sassily, resting her hands on her hips. "You got a problem with that?"
"But you're wearing your uniform...?"
"I was just about to head off to work!" She said exasperatedly. "Are you going to ask any more questions now?"
I looked at her solemnly,"How many rooms?" I asked quietly.
"I'm sorry, what?"
"How many rooms, on this floor, count them right now," I demanded pressingly.
"Why?"
"Because it will change your life."
"Five." She stated confidently, twirling around the hallway,"One, two, three, four, five-"
"Six." I interrupted.
She gives me a disbelieving glare,"Six?" She scoffed.
"Look."
