I dont even remember when i started walking. All I know is that my feet ached and I was lost.

My thoughts were scattered all over the place. I didnt know where I was going, but I just needed to get out of this miserable town. I needed some place new, and it was time to live for myslf not for any one else.

I punched in my address into the gps on my cell phone.  I was going to go to that house quickly and get my things. I have been saving up money from my cafe job, until I got enough, then I would leave.

It's time to move on with my life and become someone new. Someone less broken and disturbed. I just want to finally for once in my lifetime, be happy!

After numerous right and left turns I ended up at my home. I took a deep breath before walking through the front door. The stench of alcohol overpowered me and I could not breath. Tears welled in my eyes again, but I quickly wiped them away.

I rushed up the stairs and opened the door to my childhood bedroom. The cheap tan paint was peeling off the walls. I couldn't even fit in my twin sized bed. I had to scruch my body just so my feet would not hang off the end of the matress. The chipped, white, wooden, desk was scrunched in the corner of my small room.

I took out a duffel bag from the top of my closet. Opening a few drawers of my dresser, I folded some underwear, bras, t-shirts, jeans, and sweatpants, and put them in my duffle bag.

I walked over to my bed and pulled out the box of money I have been keeping for the last three years. I opened it and started to count my only ticket to freedom.  Six thousand dollars, that was what I had for the time being.

I stuck the box of money in my duffle bag and slung it over my shoulder. I walked over to the light switch and took one last glance at my room before shutting off the lights and leaving that destroyed home.

....

I bought a bus ticket to Fairview Pennsylvania. I heard about the town from news casts. It was a lovely town with sweet people. That's exactly what I needed.

"Everyone for Fairview!" The bus driver talked into the microphone. Standing up I picked up my bag and got off the bus.

I looked around and saw a run down looking motel. I did not care for anything to fancy. My whole entire life hasn't been filled fancy things, so I don't see the point of changing that now.

The office of the motel was cold and very dull.

"Hi. A room please." I asked the old plump man sitting at the desk in a swivel chair.

"Seventy-five Miss." he told me.

I set my bag down and pulled out the wooden box, being careful to not let the man see all the money I had. "Here." I replied handing him the money. He gave me a key and sent me on my way.

Slipping the key into the key-hole, I opened the door and dropped my bag. The door slammed behind me and made me jump. Man, I was on edge.

I began to put my clothing in the dusty dresser, when my cellphone began to buzz. I slid my finger over the answering button, "Hey Blake." I sighed into the phone.

Blake is my childhood best friend. He was there for me when my dad would lash out and drown himself in alcohol. I was so thankful for Blake and every little thing he has done for me. My life would have been a lot more complicated if he was not in it.

Sadly, Blake went to the University of Florida, five months ago to experience college. He was a genius and I was so ecstatic for him. His parents were madly in love and did everything they could for him, but they didn't have the money to fully support my best friend.

"Kate! How are you? My mom called me about John and his collapse. Is he okay?" He questioned. I honestly did not know what to say. How could I tell him that I left my sick father? He would be disgusted.

"Blake, I left. I left home. I just could not do it anymore! He hurt me so god damn much and I will not keep putting myself through that misery!" I cried into the phone.

"Are you serious?" He sounded amused. "Thank God! I am so proud of you Kate. I never thought you would get the courage to leave Long Island, let alone New York!" I could not be more happy that he was accepting of my drastic decision.

"Thank you Blake. To have your acceptance is amazing!"

After a few more exchanged words I hung up the phone and plugged it into the charger.

I slipped into one of Blake's UF shirts that he sent to me and black sweatpants. I was so worn out and it was five in the morning.

Closing my eyes, I let myself drift away,

I was ready to start my new journey and I couldn't wait to see what it held!
