"Kate, please. I know what I did was wrong and stupid, but I was out of it. I did not know what I was doing!" he shouted back at me.

The rage was clawing at my insides. It was going to take over, but I had to push it down. I know I was blowing this out of proportion extremely, but when someone promises something, they should not go back on that.

It just made me so mad to know that all the progress he made was now thrown in the fire. It was ridiculous and crazy!

"Blake! Don't you get it? You assaulted a girl because you were to hyped up on drugs!" I step closer to his trembling figure. "You went back on a promise, which hurts like hell, but on top of that, you dropped out of school! You're so incredibly selfish it blows my mind!" He freezes.

"Ha! You left you're dying father! Poor Kate, with daddy issues," he uses air quotes and I am on the verge of slapping him. He laughs and continues his verbal assaults. "Remember when your father said that you were like your mother? He was right! You're a hypocrite, and such a-"

The only thought running through my mind was for Blake to shut his mouth. So, I took my hand and whipped it across his stubble cheek. Fire spread through my hand all the way to my fingertips. My hand was red, just like his cheek. He stared at my dumbfounded.

I know that I should have felt some kind of regret, but nothing was there. Only rage. I was done with Blake. He crossed the line.

"Don't ever come near me again. Don't you ever contact me again. I want nothing to do with you!" I spat and turned on my heal walking away from the only person I have ever truly cared for.

...

It has been a week since I have spoke to Blake. He has gone against my wishes, and called me repeatedly. I did want to answer and tell him that I was sorry, but I was going to stick to my guns.

I thought I needed his comforting presence, but after learning what he had done, I was disgusted by it.

I was on my way to work. I finally got a car! It is a 2001 white Camry. It is not much, but it will suffice.

I pulled into a parking spot right in front of the cafe. I unbuckled my seat belt and got out. It was freezing in the cafe. I knew I should of brought a jacket, but when do I listen to myself?

I quickly got behind the counter and put my apron on. I honestly did not want to be at work today. I was tired, due to the fact that I could not stop thinking about my altercation with Blake. I was angry at myself for even letting myself lose control of my actions.

But, on the bright side of things I knew I would see Stephen today. He has been coming in here everyday since our little "run in". He makes me giddy and I like that. He compliments me and asks how I am doing or feeling. He genuinely seems interested in me. I really like that too.

"Hey Kate." As if on cue, Stephen's voice breaks through my thoughts and stands right in front of me. "Is someone daydreaming?" He inquires and smiles.

"Oh, hey Stephen. Sorry, I was just thinking," His smile. Oh dear lord his smile! "Same as always?" I quickly ask and turn around to start making his regular.

French Vanilla latte with extra cram and sugar!

Just like me.

"You got it. What are you thinking about?" he asks.

I nearly burn my self pouring the hot coffee into his cup. His question caught me off guard and I almost dropped the cup. "It's nothing important." I brush off his question. Not really...

I finish making his latte and hand him his drink. "Here. It's on the house." I smile and lean on the counter, propping my elbows on the counter, and resting my chin in my hands.

No one is here right now. Its four and our busy time is early in the morning, or it's in the early evening.

"Thank you." He winks at me and I giggle uncontrollably.

I cover my mouth quickly to stifle my laughs. "Sorry."

"Don't worry about it. Can you take a quick break?" he asks. I'm stunned.

"Y-yeah." I stutter. I walk out from the counter and head after him through the door. He pulls out a metal chair, "Sit." He instructs.

I comply and he pushes the chair up against the matching metal table. He sits down after and props his hands on the table. Stephen just looks at me and licks his lips. Takes a deep breath and then repeats. "Kate," He pushes a hand through his hair and licks his lips again.

"Yes?" I am trying to get him to continue. I honestly have no clue where this is going.

"Tomorrow is Friday." Well no shit Sherlock! I don't say that. That would just be rude. "Can I take you out?"

My eyes bulge and I am pretty sure I look insane right now. I want to say yes so bad but no words decide to come out, so I just nod.

He laughs, a shaky laugh though. "Okay, I will take that. It is a surprise," I still don't say anything. "Can I see your phone please?"

"S-sure." I push out the words and pull out my phone and hand it to him. I don't have a pass code on it, so he wont have any problem. I don't talk to anyone besides Blake, well actually, I don't talk to anyone now. I'm pathetic.

He moves his fingers over the screen and then holds up the phone to his face. He smiles at it and then takes a picture.

"Now, you have my number and my picture," He stands up and hands me my cell phone. "Text me your address. I have to get back to work." He wraps his arms around my curvy frame. I don't return the gesture for a few moments. When I do, I am lost in his embrace. I hold onto him for awhile.

He then lets go, and as do I.

"Bye Kate." He whispers in my ear, raising goosebumps and leaves me smiling like a damn fool.
