Okay so sorry I haven't updated in a while. I'm watching the oscars so yeah. Please comment. This is where thw story really starts rolling!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Queen. Me as the ruler of Lormont! Has the kingdom gone completely crazy? What I would kill to wear jeans again.
"Viv, c'mon let's go socialize with everyone!" Idla said sprinting through my door while I was changing into a light blue gown with silver trim that Mother had worn when she was my age. It's comfortable, but definately not my style.
"How many times do I have to tell Mom that I don't want to talk to the citizens of Lormont?" I knew the answer, but I wanted to see if she knows.
"At least fifty." Damn. I underestimated her.
Idla gracefully walked into my room and wrapped a piece of silk around her and spun around with it while humming a familiar tune.
"Idla, I don't feel comfortable talking to them right now." I said that even though there's no way that I can avoid them forever.
"Actually, you don't have a choice." What? "Mother wants you to come downstairs and meet everyone." Why is she smiling? Strange child.
"Hold on. They're here?!" Idla nodded. Oh shit.
-------------------------------------
I quickly fixed my hair into a the best braid I could possibly do, pulled on my shoes, and put my cape on that Mother had made me for my eightteenth birthday(it finally fits, still drags to the floor but fits nonetheless).
Almost tripping on the steps, I managed to get down the marble stair steps without cracking my head open.
Oh shit! I almost forgot about my charm! I reached up to my neck with my hand and gentley felt for the charm. Thank goodness it's there. Relief flooded through me with the fact that I won't end up destroying the kingdom as I was introduced by the royal Harold.
All of a sudden, all eyes landed on me. Some were smiling, others were cursing under their breath. Just their endless stares caused my stomach to drop and my heart to.beat faster. Breathe in. Breathe out. I said that to myself over and over again until I felt relaxed.
I don't know any of these people. Maybe I should look for a familiar face so I don't feel so isolated. I scanned the room until my eyes finally landed on two people from my high school. Olivia and Trevor. My two best friends(other than Hector). I instantly picked up my dress and let my cape trail behind me hoping that nobody will step on it.
"Hey, what brings you here?" I asked them. Of course I know why they're here, everyone in the kingdom has to come.
Olivia's eyea widened and she smiled happily. "Oh my goodness! Viveca, it's so nice to see you again!" She sounds the same from high school. Her long auburn hair is now shorter than it was before. Down to her shoulders now. I think she may have straightened it. She was dressed in a long violet, short-sleeved dress with a golden rope-like belt tied loosely around her waist. She looked stunning(like she always does). Olivia as the look of a queen; I do not.
"It's so awesome--I mean--it's a pleasure to see you too. Mother wants me to talk in a formal manner." I hate talking like that. I'm not even allowed to swear anymore. I'm really going to have a hard life soon.
"That's great! I'm so happy for you. This is such great news! Will you go easy on me?" Olivia asked. She smiled and took a sip of some red-colored liquid from her fragile glass.
"Well, I'll see what I can do." I said in a light-hearted tone. It's so nice to talk to her again.
I looked over at Trevor who was smiling but hadn't said anything yet. "And how are things with you, Trevor?" He turned to look at me with those marvolous green eyes of his. He isn't exactly "drop-dead-gorgous" but he's still pretty good looking. With those lime green eyes and short, yet nice, blond hair of his, he lights up any dark room he enters. He's pretty fit, considering he comes from a family of blacksmiths, and he always has a way of making me laugh.
"Things are good. Business is going well and my brother recently got engaged. Lucky bastard." He acts like he hates his older brother, but I know he respects him. "So are you ready to rule Lormont?" I was hoping he wouldn't ask that.
"I have to admit, I'm a little anxious. I don't have the charisma to rule. You know that I have never been any good at giving speeches." I said doing my best not to stress myself out. Though I should be fine since I'm wearing my suppression charm. You haven't had an incident for many years. Let's keep it that way. I exhaled before talking to him again. "Other than that, I'm very pleased that I was chosen to rule the kingdom." Lying through that forced smile made me very sick to my stomach. I swear, I can hear it churn from within.
"I think you're going to make a great ruler. I should go find my brother. Talk to you soon, Viv." Trevor set down his glass and disappeared into the crowd.
Music began to play with the sweet strum of a harp and other instruments that echoed in my ears. Everyone wanted to talk to me. But, I don't want to talk to them. For some reason, ever since mentioning the speeches and that Lormont's fate lays in the palm of my hands, I feel like I should leave and find a quiet place to relax in.
I pushed through the crowd in desperate search of my mother. Where could she be? Instead of running into Mother, Idla bumped into me. "Whoah, Viv, you don't look so good. Are you okay?" She asked sweetly. I touched my hand to my forehead to feel bitter droplets of sweat drench my face. Oh shit. This can't be happening. This is the same thing that happened during my last incident!
-------------------------------------
"Move!" I shouted as I forced my way through the crowd, doing my best to get out of the castle as soon as possible.
"Viveca, where do you think you're going?" Mother stepped in front of me and I wish she never had done so.
"Mother, please! Just get out of the way." Next thing I know, she's stretched out on the floor.
My sweating got worse as I flew the doora open and began to sprint away into the kingdom only to be greeted by the citezens that couldn't make it to my pre-coronation party.
I shyed away from them as quickly as possible. The woods seem like a good place to go.
There's no way I'm going to make it. I collapsed to the ground and began to scream. I could feel the fire ignite inside of me. The sharp teeth penetrating through my gums sending blood to the floor after nicking my tounge. I forgot how painful it was.
More and more pain overcame me as my flesh was replaced with rough, red scales. My blue eyes shifted into striking reptilian eyes. I could feel the shift through my eye sight. Color turned different and I became more sensitive to the light.
I could hear everyone panic, not knowing what to do. I screamed even more that the wings stretched out of from my back. The last stage of the transformation.
Now, I have no control.
