Chapter 6: Flashbacks

Just a couple of notes, as you remember Harry isn't educated so if you see any grammar or vocabulary issues with his dialogue that's why. Also there's a bit of cockney in here, ( I put it through a translator) SO I'll leave the translator in the external link.

"S-Sorry," Harry's eyes flew open and removed his mouth from mine," I just saw those two people over there doing it -", Harry pointed to a couple sitting adjacent to us, "And you were about to cry..."

"It's okay Harry. It was just a little kiss, "I remarked, "We should get going anyways."

"Right, right." He agreed and rose to his feet.

Our silence was short-lived as Harry asked me a question.

"Tell me a story from when YOU were younger."

How could he form a conversation so normally after that? Did he not feel the sensation I felt? It was so unusual...Not what I expected my first kiss to be like...Not that I even expected to have a first kiss. Even as a teenager, I never cared for the other things girls did. I wasn't a tomboy but it was if everything I did was never good in anybody's sight.

I sighed loudly.

"Soleil?" Harry shook me from my morbid thoughts, "Your childhood?"

"It wasn't a happy time for me..."

I walked down the hallways of my new prep school wearing the school's uniform of a black long-sleeved shirt and a black & white plaid skirt with white socks and black shoes. I had two books pressed to my chest as I strode into the classroom.

I sat at a desk near the back and watched the teacher teach a topic I had already learnt at my old school. I never understood it anyways so I just opened my book and started to sketch. I glanced down at the terribly drawn picture of a star.

"Why can't I do anything right?" I cried and held my head down, letting my tears wet the pages.

I sniffled quietly. But apparently not because someone noticed.

"Are you okay?" A girl asked me, "I know it's hard but you don't have to cry." She put her hand on my shoulder.

I looked up at her with red eyes and a dripping nose.

"What's your name?" The unknown girl asked me.

I took in her appearance to see if she would be a good friend.

Her brown hair was curled in a ponytail and her eyes were grey with confusion, her nose was small and proved her age to be no older than 11. Her mouth was made into a frown and then it opened, telling me she was talking.

"...if you weren't going to even tell me your name, I wouldn't have even asked." She said and turned away from me.

"It wasn't as if no one talked to me, I just couldn't hold a conversation for very long..."

"You talk to me pretty good."

I chuckled at his incorrect use of grammar.

"That's because I'm infatuated by you." The words just fell out of my mouth and I was glad Harry wouldn't know what that meant.

"What does-"

"Nothing. It means nothing. I like you as a friend." I stumbled my words into each other.

Harry grabbed me by the arm, preventing me from walking any further.

"I want to learn what all these things mean; I feel like you say things and then don't have to worry about saying the wrong thing because I won't know. It makes me feel dumb." Harry looked angry.
