The waiter cleared the table of the dirty plate and silverware. Soleil said her quiet ‘thank-you’s’, and found herself staring out of the glass window of the chilly diner. Her quiet, labored breathing formed condensation on the glass. The cars sped by the diner but it seemed as if she didn't even notice. Lately everything had been moving in slow motion. Too slow for her liking.  

The shrill chime of the door, indicating someone had entered, startled her from her dark thoughts. A man, standing nearly at 6 feet tall with brown unruly curls and dull green eyes entered. They resembled hers lately, with the exception of the colour. He was wearing a plain black t-shirt, slightly dirty skinny jeans and a pair of old brown boots. She never understood fashion choices nowadays.

He saw her acknowledge him and sent a smile her way. He then proceeded to the bar. Considering they were the only two in there, she decided to be friendly. Soleil walked up to the bar as well and took a seat beside him.

“Hi there.”

“Hello.” He said in a deep slow voice.

“I’m Soleil.” She held out her hand to him.

“I’m Harry.” He took her small, soft hand into his large, calloused one and kissed the back of it.

She blushed at the friendly gesture.

“So I haven’t seen you in here before, are you from around here?”

“Yeah…uh, kind of….” He looked uncomfortable, “You come here every day?”

“Just about.”

“That’s good.” His lips turned up into a smile.
