Chapter 11: Lesson Two
"Soleil! Soleil!" I heard Harry shout from the living room.
I left my spot in the bathroom.
"What's up Harry?" I didn't see him immediately but when I did, the first thing I saw was a piece of paper thrust out to me.
"What's this?" I asked as I glanced at the large handwriting before looking back up at Harry.
"For you," He beamed at me, clearly proud of his work, "I write it last night."
The first thing on the page made me laugh. It read 'I don't know how to spell your name, could you write it for me?'. I took up a pencil lying nearby, making sure Harry was watching, and I wrote my name.
"You write pretty." Harry rested his head on my shoulder.
"So does this mean you need help with spelling?" I turned my head and his hair brushed my forehead.
"Let's start with this letter." I said, not waiting for a response, "Why did you write it?" I questioned, although I probably already knew why.
"Because of last night..." Harry rubbed the back of his neck in shame.
I walked in the apartment with a bag in-hand, containing a new shirt for myself.
"What did you get?" Harry rose from his seat to greet me.
"Just a shirt," I shrugged, "Want to see it?"
"Of course." He smiled and I returned the gesture.
I pulled out the top and started to put it on over the shirt I was wearing.
"What do you think?" I asked after I adjusted it on my body.
Harry hurriedly looked down at the piles of papers he was previously reading. I was really glad that he was making the effort to use the words I taught him in daily life.
"It's absolutely substandard."
"What? Harry do you think you used that word correctly?"
"Uh...Sorry, sorry," He ruffled through the scattered pages again, "Deficient?"
"Deficient?" I asked trying not to get offended, "Why don't you just call it god-awful!"
"It's...god-awful?" He mimicked, not picking up on my sarcasm.
I huffed in frustration and un-buttoned it, throwing it back in the bag.
"Soleil, you know I think you're beautiful today." He rested on the adjectives he knew well.
I knew it was just a word mix-up but my low self-confidence couldn't help but butcher his statement and make me think that every other day I looked ugly.
"Just forget it Harry," I said sadly, "I already bought it." I flung the bag and myself inside my room for the majority of the rest of the day.
"Okay, next paragraph, you spelt 'know' wrong. It's not the know that is spelt n-o, it's the one with the silent 'k' and 'w'."
"How many words exactly have these 'silent' letters?"
"Quite a few." I chuckled, "I'll just check through the letter, then let you know okay?"
I don't no how to spell your name could you write it for me? But anyways, words will never fulley express how sorry I am, but I truly hope that it is a good start.
