Chapter 12: Lesson Three

Dedicated to ReganRiley cause her story gives me life

“Are you ready?” I asked Harry as I pulled on my shoes.

“Yeah.” He pulled up his pants.

“Wait by the door, I’ll be right there.” I walked over to Danielle, who we had just finished giving a bath.

“Do you want to come with us?” I asked her.

She nodded and took me by the hand over to Harry.

“So what are we doing today?” Harry waited for me as I locked up.

“I’m going to teach you about colours and shapes, “ I paused for dramatic effect, “Outside.”

“And Danielle?”

“I feel that we don’t take them anywhere.”

We walked down the street, identifying the road as black and the sky as grey.

“Do you see the clock?” I pointed at Big Ben, “what colour is it, and what is the shape?”

“It’s red…and that’s a circle.”

“Do you want to go over there to that field?” Harry asked Danielle.

She nodded and they ran across the street, luckily the street wasn’t busy. When I had finally caught up to them they stood in front of a wooden and wired fence.

“I think the entrance is on the other side.” I commented.

“Not a big deal.” He shrugged and lifted Dani over the fence.

“You coming?” He held out his hand for me.

I took it and in a surprising turn of events he slung it over his shoulder and hoisted me onto his back. He stepped over the fence easily with his long legs and lay me down on the grass.

“Thanks Harry.” I muttered, but continued to stare at the sky.

I noticed Harry’s brown boots out of the corner of my eye, indicating he was standing, probably watching Danielle. I stared at the sky, waiting for anything to happen. I began to get lost in my thoughts, thinking back to a few hours before myself and Harry’s fateful meeting, closing my eyes.

I walked down the street briskly with my arms wrapped around myself, and my fingers clutching the sleeves of my long-sleeved grey sweater. My hair was a mess, I could tell; the crisp wind made me aware of its unkempt nature. No matter how clement the day seemed to feel, I refused to let go of my cathartic mindset. Only a few more minutes…

As I opened my eyes again, I noticed someone sprinkling blades of grass on my face. I sat up abruptly to see Harry lying beside me with Danielle resting on his chest.

“Are you okay? Are you allergic to grass?” Harry asked me worriedly.

“No I was jus- wait. Harry how do you know that word?”

“I’ve been reading ahead.” He smiled sheepishly.

“So you know all about colours and all that already?” I asked and he nodded shyly.

“Well great,” I slammed my back on the ground, “Now I feel like an idiot thinking you didn’t know anything.”

“It’s okay. At least it’s a nice day out.”

“I think it will rain.”

“I think you’re radiant.”

I hit him on side and we chuckled, staring comfortably at the sky.

“Word of the day,” I stared at the sky’s usual grey cumulus clouds, “indelible. That which cannot be forgotten.”

“Synonyms?”

“Enduring…Inerasable…Ingrained.”

“You’re really smart you know?” I could hear Harry turn to face me.

“I’m average for a half-college graduate.”

“Smarter than I am.”

“You’re very smart Harry,” I sat up, “You’re more interested in learning than most men your age.”

“When is you supposed to stop learning?”

“Most people don’t. They have this passion for learning new things because there’s always something you don’t know. Most of them don’t actually have jobs; they’re either still in university or they travel the world for –“ I stopped myself when I noticed Harry was smiling at me.

“What?” I grew shy under his watchful gaze.

He stood to meet me.

“Is that what you want to do?”

“I don’t know, I haven’t exactly ‘found myself’, completely. I’m into writing so that’s something.”

“I’m sorry I made you come out here for not reason.”

I looked behind Harry to see Danielle collecting flowers in her hands. I looked back at him to see green intruders tangled in his curls.

“It’s okay. It’s a good day.”

Hello there everyone! Wow, it's uh been a while hasn't it? Huh, right about that...I was working on this thing where I said I wouldn't update unless I had like 2 chapters written already that way you guys wouldn't have to be waiting 10,000 years for an update, but here's the thing...this process only works if you're writing frquently which I have not been so everyone I'm extremely sorry and even more sorry that it took me 3 months to stop being lazy and write.

I'm about to start exams on Tuesday but hopefully I find time to write if not update? I don't like letting you guys down, I know how much some of you enjoyed and missed this story so don't forget about it just yet.

The song on the side...I just love it, it's cute.

Please Vote & Comment, tell me how much you missed this story and remind me that you're still alive!! Share this with your friends! If there's a time to jump on this train it's right now!!

Should I start doing a QOTD or is that too mainstream?

Byeeee x
