I sat up ok the crows nest. The ship rocked gently as we moseyed along the water. The tower shook as someone climbed up. Miles sat next to me. "One more night." He said grabbing my hand.I rested my head on his shoulder. "One more night and we'll be home."
"Then?"
"Then, what,"
"After we get back?"
"We've got time."
I looked up at him. "You're one strange boy Miles Tuck."
"Oh yeah? Strange how?"
"Acting like you'll never run out of time."
"Because I won't." He smiled smugly. I laughed putting my head back down. "We won't."
~
I woke up as rain patted down on the ship. I sat up. I looked back at Miles. He could sleep through anything. I stood up as waves tossed the ship. I made my way to the front of the boat. I sat by the bow. "Viens vite!" Abella called from the cabin. I quickly raced down. "We have a problem."
I looked at her searching for answers. We both fell to the ground as the lights flicked off. The ship rocked back and forth violently.
We both stood up. "It's only going to be worse. We're a few hours from freedom land but boat is old. We don't have much time!" The ship jumped again throwing us to the ground.
Abella shrieked as a leak sprung from the ground. She frantically searched around. I covered the hole with a towel as we searched around. I sighed sitting back as we covered the hole.
We sat in the cabin for hours. Abella sat in top of the hole. "Go, get rest. I got it. It will get better from here."
I nodded heading back ho on the deck. My eyes adjusted to the darkness as I sat back down towards the back. Miles wrapped his arm around me as he felt my presence. I closed my eyes gently. The boat rocked as the storm calmed.
~
My eyes shot open as the sun returned to the earth. "Miles wake up!" I said excitedly ran to the front of the boat. Miles followed me. I smiled as land came into view. Jesse ran over smiling ear to ear. Abella ran over ecstatically dragging her exhausted father.
"Here we are young ones." Elliot said looking down at all of us. "America."
