CHAPTER 7: Jessica

Today I found out my dad is alive. My dad who everyone told me abandoned me when I was 5 and Adam was 2. Now he just decides to show up here and he expects to be welcomed. I wanted to punch him, but Mandy told me I couldn’t. He’s trying to get Adam and me back, technically we aren’t his anymore because of the abandonment charges. Mandy doesn’t really care about losing me, but Adam is like her little boy, since Jacen is almost all grown up. So that is the only reason she is putting up any kind of fight against him. Also she wants to keep her good reputation and her foster home privileges, she would lose it if she gave me and Adam over to someone not fitting for child care. My dad has been in town all along, just avoiding us. What a good dad.

Enough about the bad parents that have surrounded me my whole life. I am still a bit freaked out by the run in with that boy and the ghost thin that claimed to be my mom. I don’t really know what to do or how to feel about everything. It is a bit overwhelming to be having all that happen in one day. I’ve never really had much along the lines of a real family, but now it all shows up in one day. Why now? That was the main question I wanted to ask almost everyone. Why did you show up now? Why did you just start to care now? Why did my mom show herself now? What is so important about now?

Hopefully I will eventually get some of those questions answered. That is all I really truly want. But that, unlike everything else, won’t happen now, so I should go for a run to clear my head. How about a run to my favorite park? That might solve a few things. I arrive at the park and find my favorite spot, the little tower on the top of the playground. I climb up there and hide, hot tears just run down my face, I don’t even care about my makeup. I just wish someone would just tell me why my life is so screwed up. My mom apparently had to die, and my dad was never really dead. Why did they both leave? What were they so afraid of? Was it I?

I heard voices and the creaking of the swings. A girl sat on the swing and looked upset, and a mysterious boy was sitting next to her.  Suddenly the boy disappeared in a cloud of smoke. The girl stayed for a while, and then got up to go. I felt creepy, but I wanted to know what was wrong. She started on her way, and I was behind her. She glanced back frightened and then ran into the road, I was about to call out because I saw a car speeding down the street. I watched helplessly as the car slammed into the girl’s body, I heard loud popping sounds and so I ran towards the crash. The car backed away and sped off, I hate idiotic jerks. I grabbed my phone and shakily called 911.
