A pain the ass, I'm well aware, but before we get to the story, I must remind you of what you already know: I do not own The Maze Runner, its characters and its plot. I only own my original characters, for instance Katya, and the storyline and plot built around her.

Also, I would like to inform you that while this fanfiction is mainly based on the book series, I will be making a few adjustments in order for the book to best fit Katya's story. For instance, the Gladers were sent up one at a time from the very start, and they were trapped for three years, like in the movie.

Another thing you should know is that our story begins long before Thomas is sent into the Glade because of Katya's background and the developing relationship between her and Newt, as well as the fact that I wanted her to be one of the original Gladers. There will also be several time-skips – for which I apologize, considering they're quite annoying to be honest – but unless we want a 200-chapters long book that drawls on and on about the unfolding mysteries of a world we've all come to know quite well already, they are necessary. I will do my absolute best for them to appear gracefully to the plot.

Lastly, this will not be one of those Love At First Sight-fanfictions where they end up making out in the second chapter. I want their relationship to evolve naturally along the way, and it will take a while for them to even realize their feelings towards one another. Also, when they do, I can't promise a lot of cheesy romantic Randomly-Found-A-Spot-In-The-Glade-That-None-of-The Several-Dozen-Guys-Here-Has-Ever-Discovered-Because-This-Place-is-So-Shucking-Huge-Right-scenes. They are, after all, to be found in an incredibly dangerous situation, and having someone to kiss won't change any of that. Let's be realistic here.

Anyways, thank you so much for considering this book (and for actually reading this text so far, wow, I know I rarely do that), I really hope you enjoy it, and that you don't find it a complete waste of time.
